Do these neuter the volume on your phone? I have the wired version and need to use one of those half-assed volume booster apps when using outdoor power tools.

Sadly yes. I use the gel ones all the time but I find the max volume is at least 3 levels too low. I can still hear everything but it would be nice if they were louder.

Are you using a DAC dongle (since most phones no longer have a headphone jack)? If so, the culprit is likely the dongle and not the headphones.

Maybe a stupid question, but could these be used at a gun range to protect your ears as well? Reviews and description seemed to highlight use case was mainly yard work, loud machinery, etc
