I installed four of these yesterday. The 500lb version, that is. Here is what I found:

1. The brackets are held to the wood by extremely small screws. The brackets will wobble. Two screws actually had the head broken off, resulting in just the body of the screw stuck in the wood. Luckily there is enough room to drive another screw of your choice in next to any broken off ones. Note, I don't think it is a huge deal that they are a bit wobbly pre-installation, because once installed to studs, they can no longer wobble. They'd have to both wobble together, and I haven't found this to be an issue.

2. The braces come with lock nuts on the bolts. This is good. The bad thing is, you MUST check them. Nearly half of the nuts were not even hand tight. I have to assume this is by design and they expect you to tighten them.

3. You cannot tighten the nuts and bolts too much. As a matter of fact, there are two bolts in particular which should be replaced with half-inch longer ones. Reason being, the nylon portion of the lock nut is almost not engaged at all. If you tighten it to the point that the lock nut is doing its job, the mechanism will no longer slide easily.

4. There are extra grooves in the wood on the back if you have non-standard stud placement. It comes factory 32" center to center to span across two studs, and it does that perfectly.

5. The wood tops are nice. I accept the faults of the brackets at this price.

Thanks for the great deal!

They also have the 48" version that holds 500lb vs the 400lb at the same price.

The locking mechanism is a bit different though and doesn't have gas springs

Can someone that received tell me if the wood top is butcher block??

My local home depot has the same thing but with a butcher block which would look nicer IMO than regular wood if that's what this is.

Anyone have recommendations on some wall brackets to hold an already owned wooden top?

Was thinking of buying this but I have a perfectly good solid wood board that's like 5 ft
Buy the cheaper one, use the brackets, have a brand new top lined up for some other job.

Never (just) use included hardware with stuff like this! Use around 3 inch deck screws from Spax or GRK.

Is anyone's order status saying "back ordered" when you look at its current status? (Mine is)

Thinking of using this as a standup desk for a computer. Is there space from the back of the table to put in monitor mount, or is this table completely flush to the wall with no gap?

I'm thinking of using this for the laundry room to go right above the washer and dryer. Anyone know if this would be cheaper than ordering separate brackets and a top solid wood bench? I wouldn't necessarily need the collapsible brackets but if this is cheaper than purchasing everything separately, may be worth trying.

From what I saw on HD, its flush to the wall. You could always try mounting the screen from the sides? Or maybe cut out a small chunk in the back of the bench to fit the mount? Your last option would be to mount them on your studs.

This would definitely be the cheaper way to go. Similar mounts are around $20-30 and 4' butcher block is close to $100 on its own.

did you install with the wood top stayed on or you removed them before installation?

I left the brackets on for the most part. I have a laser level (highly recommend if you hang things often) and it goes horizontal plus vertical. I found the stud I wanted and set the laser level on it. So there was a big red + sign across my wall.
Then I removed only one half of the bracket (the part that mounts to the wall). I set the middle hole where the horizontal and vertical beams met, right in the middle of the plus sign. I then went 32 inches to the left and made a mark on the horizontal plane. I moved the laser level over to where I made the mark (on a stud of course) and marked all the holes on that side.
Then I reattached the half of the bracket back to the table and held it up by stacking things underneath... In my case a coupl Milwaukee tool boxes and a hunk of 4x6. That allowed me to line up the holes/marks I made perfectly. Screwed in the bolts to the studs and called it a day!

Sorry for the long winded response, a picture would have been better.

TL;DR: I removed them to mark the wall.

Wasn't sure if I needed it or if it would fit. Bought one of each, and may use both. Glad I did.

Thanks. Yeah I'm not aware of the cost of an equivalent top piece of wood. Good to know, too bad I missed it. Will keep an eye on it.

Thank you. I ordered and will check to see if I can get mount in. Doubt it, but worst case is I mount screens to wall instead.
