I disagree…. I am weighing one of these against a PRS Hollowbody II Piezo. Both offer a blending of tones from multiple pickup types. Guitars are tools.. just because you don't see a need doesn't mean someone else won't paint a masterpiece with one.

Well made guitars with unique electronics. They may solve a problem that doesn't exist but that does not justify the insults…

I love mine as a stage guitar. Sounds better than any of my acoustics with piezo plugged in. No quack. Plus there is the electric option should the need arise.

One of my friends was looking at the same 2 guitars, ended up with the hollowbody II piezo and has no complaints. Every acoustasonic (player, not american) he tried was underwhelming or broken/buzzing in some way.

Got a jazz master and it was the best setup I've ever seen straight out of the box. I guess you're bound to win the lottery eventually if you play enough. Don't love the look, but the sound is nice. Msrp is just a bit nuts though.

The Tele and Jazzmaster are still live direct from Fender at $959.

That's not the American version.

I returned a HB II Piezo. Doesn't have individual saddle volume adjustments unless its the USA version. Had one string noticeably louder. I also didn't love the pickups but thats personal preference.

Tried this one and settled on the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster. Love it! Much more versatile, IMO.

I found on the net that this is made in Corona, CA but I cannot find anything on Fender's website that confirms this. Even if it is, the fact that "made in USA" isn't front and center on their "supposed" USA made guitars does not sit well with me at all. I would totally steer clear of Fender.

I see that it says "Corona California" on the back, but that is not the same as "made in USA". It carries no weight of law/regulation. I suspect much of it is produced in China and maybe it is assembled in Corona.

Have this one. Sounds really great. Looks are not bad either. I think most people get hung up on the looks of it.

This is super tempting but I just can't lol... way too many guitars. If sunburst or tobacco sunburst was at this price it would make things even more difficult.

I have the HB II Piezo and like it - the lack of controls is slightly annoying but I can live with it.

Interesting that that's your experience. I haven't played one of these, but of the reviews I've watched online, basically every one of them says "it's acoustic, but it feels and plays like an electric". I'd agree that my expectation would be that it'd feel more like their electrics, given the neck carve heel cut away (which looks identical to my American deluxe strat from 2013), etc. Also agree on the point about Taylor's. I have a 714ce and what immediately sold me on it was the amazing playability. Even in spite of the horrendous electronics (es2) they put in them.
I just play guitar occasionally and am not great, so take my perspective with a grain of salt, but I also thought this guitar played more like an acoustic when I tried it in store. Of course the shape of the guitar feels electric, but the strings themselves felt like I was playing an acoustic. I have a nice acoustic, but sold my electric a long time ago, and was wanting to try electric again, thinking maybe this would feel like an electric, but let me make an acoustic sound too, so I would only have to bring out a single guitar when I want to mess around, but walked away feeling like it's not very good at being either acoustic or electric.

Edit: I think I actually tried the Acoustisonic Player Telecaster, not the Stratocaster. Not sure if that makes a difference to the feel.

Funny, I play a Martin 35 and have had no issues or desire for any of this at all, but the comments here are all Taylor's or fenders, strange that Chinese made Taylor's (yes they're made like Chinese guitars don't care where they are actually made) are the hot topic. My luthier worked for Martin and Gibson and was asked by Taylor to work for them, he said no cause of the construction, he told me that before you start with your crap threading about your great Taylor's and I'm sure you didn't compare them with the Martins either. My luthier I guarantee has 60 years on anyone here's comments
Please, entertain us of his crap about great Martin and Gibson. I'm curious as I like Martin, own a Gibson and a Taylor. What's wrong with Taylor's construction?

I'm really tempted to get an acoustasonic (as fugly as they are, they look fun) but as much as I would like an American version (especially for the additional pickup), there is no way I would ever buy a guitar with a proprietary rechargable battery. It's 9V or no dice for me, so I'll be waiting on a deal on a Player model.

My luthier says his luthier is full of crap.

See how unsubstantiated statements work? Honestly, his post is a rambling, meandering block of nonsense. Comes off as nothing more than Martin and Gibson fanboyism, which isn't surprising given he's shitting on Fenders and Taylors. To simply dismiss entire brands because of XYZ is the stance of ignorant people. You can get bad Fenders and Taylors, just like you can get bad Gibsons and Martins. Frankly, to hold Gibson up as a beacon of craftsmanship is quite silly to anyone that's had a lot of experience with their guitars the past 30 years. Taylor on the other hand is pretty renowned for the craftsmanship and consistency of their builds on the whole. In reality, though, they all make amazing guitars, and it's nothing but a good thing to consumers to have this many options.

This model is admittedly a bit of a niche product: it is broadly unappealing to people that don't play out a lot or tour as musicians and need a lot of diversity in their setup. That's ok. Doesn't mean it doesn't have a place in the market or that anyone couldn't find it interesting.
