Wow, what an incredible deal! Thank you OP and thank you to all that posted updates and encouragements!

I snagged two at my local HD.

Super, super happy indeed!

BTW, how do these compare to the Gorilla and Lil Giant versions?
You got two diferent ladders the one in the front (yellow one) is the new one $279 the one in the back (blue one) is the one in clearance

Are you certain? They sold both ladders to me for the $70 price!

And is there much of a difference between the two?

I know some people love these. But for me they are a heavy pain in the butt. I want a lightweight ladder that is ready to go. Just like I want a lightweight cordless tool. This is the opposite of that.
Absolutely true, but if you need a larger ladder that collapses into a smaller space for storage/transport, that's absolutely a consideration. This ladder weighs 40lb. An 8 foot Werner type 1AA fiberglass stepladder weighs 30lb. This ladder makes a 1 foot taller stepladder, and several other kinds of ladder/"A" frame, for only 10lb more. Would I want to haul this out and use it all the time in place of my 4 foot stepladder? Absolutely not...Would i want to swing this all around all day every day fully extended as an extension ladder? Absolutely not...but it might be better than having an 8 or 10 foot stepladder plus a 16 foot extension ladder for occasional home use

Yes, when I was in HD the first ladder I saw was the yellow one an the price was $279, finally we found the blue ones (x5) in a pallet. Probably are the same, just they change the color to justify a new model.

Maybe they scanned the clearance bar code twice in your case.

Blue one Model#:
MT-22IAAXTHD

Sku#: 1004515609

Yellow one Model#: MT-22IAAL

Sku#: 1009507808

Yeah, they want it now. No need to pay though.

Returned a Gorilla I paid $167 + tax on in June, almost exactly 90 days ago. And I thought that was a good deal!
Gorilla version is a lot better though. The pull out locks on this one are a PITA to use and the push in knobs are way too small. I've had both. Sold the Werner once I used the Gorilla…

Just snagged the last one in Martinez, CA. BS said 3 in stock, HD said none in 100 miles.

Decided to chance it and found one on the rack with the clearance tag right on it. Thanks OP!

Really nice ladders. I got some slightly smaller ones years ago for like $30 a piece (insert time machine snarky comment) shipped to the house. Kept one and gave away a couple as Xmas gifts. They are a little heavy but very sturdy and easy to fold up and store away.
"Kept one and gave away a couple as Xmas gifts" You probably paid more for wrapping paper!!!

I have this ladder and this is a great price on a ladder that can do all that this does..however, I just want to point out these can be incredibly uncomfortable to work on for extended periods of time due to the narrow depth of its steps. Sometimes it can be tricky to keep your balance and eventually the pain sets in because you just don't have enough under your shoes/boots and you're bobbing forward and backwards on the step. Other basic bitch A frame ladders from Werner are both lighter (easier to move around) and have significantly better steps to stand/work on. Not to mention a small table to set your tools and/or whatever else you need to get the job done.

Bought mine at Costco 20 years ago for $100...best ladder combo ever
I got mine from Costco for $50 some 20+ years ago and sold it for the same when filing for Chapter 7. Plenty of interest, wasted no time selling it, just like money in the bank.
