This is not really a deal you can get a 5000 series for the same price a few days ago. Its not bad, but certainly not slick. This is also higher TDP so maybe more power usage and a circa early 2020 processor. So right now almost a 4 year old proc?

I'd wait until BF now, sure some real deals happen.

Which deal you're referring? I did not see 5800H deal at this price or even closer. If you're referring those 5600U or 5540U based mini PCs then, it is good amount faster than them.

7730 is actually 5825U based on Zen 3 whereas 5700U is Zen 2, similar to your 4800U.

I am not aware there is a combo port supporting both Toslink and 3.5mm headphone. Toslink port is completely different than that of a 3.4mm Jack. Can you be more clear?
He is talking about a mini Toslink. It's the same shape as 3.5 mm jack. They were quite popular in the past. I remember having laptops with these combo ports. You could see read light inside the 3.5 mm jack.

But does any miniPC released in last couple of years, comes with that port? I don't know any such devices. I am just wondering how that's a deal breaker if no other devices have it.

So they also have the UM690-AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD for $579. If I'm looking for something in this range (specs that is) should I keep waiting or is that a good deal?

Check to see if the bios has been updated to resolve the cpu vulnerabilities.

That's the weak point of these Chinese mini-pcs. Other than some updates to fix issues with installing windows 11, they rarely ever get a bios update. Since that's how cpu microcode issues are resolved, that's a big issue.

This is $90 more for the same RAM and storage amount. The N100, while much slower, is actually better for Plex transcoding due to Quick Sync which doesn't work with AMD.

I would take this over the Beelink, but there are things to consider when picking one over the other.

This is kinda what I am looking for. My plex server is quite old with AMD 8 core with about 17 drives and Im building a new one. Looking for a low power intel mini pc and going to use a new USB 3.2 5 or 10 bay drive caddy from Sabrent with some refurb 18TB drives and just keep the old Plex around for backup. What would be the best lower power plex mini PC in your opinion?

I have a few N95 and N100 ones. They idle around 7W and the main difference in the two is GPU power (N100 greater). I have been able to transcode 4-5 4K in the N95 so if you don't need to do more than that the N95 versions will do just fine. I assume over 10 in 1080p. The N100 (which I havent tested) may get a few more. I started converting my stuff to AV1 and my android sticks decode natively so I don't really need to transcode anymore so pretty much any CPU will do.

Tempted to buy this and pair it with a DAS for my new Plex/Usenet server, kinda miffed that the DS923+ doesn't have any kind of GPU in it so I'd be forced to pay north of $600 for a barebones system that couldn't transcode

I bought the barebones Minisforum UM 560XT (Ryzen 5 5600H) a few months back for $229 and mainly use it as a Batocera machine for emulation. If this deal was available then, I would probably have saved the $40 and went this route. The more modern emulators work better with more cores and threads, so would probably have similar, if not better performance. It all depends on use case though.

What's the main use of these things? Do they make for good Plex servers? I'm currently using a raspberry pi 4 for mine

Are they charging tax? Is this considered a foreign transaction to the CC companies?

Is that price for Prime members?
Yes, apparently ... it lists "Exclusive Prime price" on the screenshot attached. Not that I think that $299 price is anything extraordinary.
