I have had 2 elites, 2 elite V2s, and now one of these cores (a V2 without all the accessories).

Take it from me and get the extra warranty. You will need it. I love these controllers but it will either start drifting or the shoulder buttons will stop registering, among other things but these are the most common.

Your future self will thank you. Just do it.

As far as face buttons like the A or Y button not registering, I have had a similar experience but it always "gets better" as you use them in my experience, kind of "loosening up" if you will and after a few days or weeks of gaming feels normal. If it doesn't seem right at the end of the return period you can return, but I have never had to do that. I would not bother returning and rebuying as they are almost all like this, just use it during the return period and return if it still doesn't feel right at that point.

For all the folks that think there is no issue and anyone complaining must be too hard on their stuff:

Also note that MS was forced to increase their original pitiful 3 month warranty to a full year and was fixing original V1s and even sending brand new replacements for free well after the year was up.
You mean the 80s kids who understand inflation and realize games back then were actually relatively more expensive than what they are today?..
