Nice find! These are OEM for Honda/Acura.

edit: Even thought the product page shows in stock for shipping, they show unavailable in checkout.

I usually get the rotor + pad sets from rock auto. Even the premium ones are pretty cheap ~$100.

OEM engineering also states up to 10,000 miles between oil changes for ideal driving conditions and lifetime transmission fluid. The same OEM engineering is also pressured by executives in MARKETING to sell their products as low maintenance and cost effective. Just saying ...you decide.

Lots of counterfeit parts on Amazon. So be aware.

Its actually easier to have new rotors shipped and then install vs taking off all 4 rotors to a shop, then find parking, then lug them with a hand truck, then hope they turned them correctly, then drive back and install.
I just came to same conclusion after bringing them to pepboys for the rotor turning a few times. Not worth the gas and effort to do that when it cost half the price to do all that anyways than to just get new rotors and slap them on.

Plus my rotors all have some heavy (hopefully superficial) rust on the rotor edges and hats since I live in the bay area wherre fog and ocean is near by.

Is it normal for two sets of pads to look different even though its same part number? Set A is alot lighter than set B.

I Also ordered a set for the rear and that looks like set B. The rear has the metal bracket build into it so no way that can be swapped.

I also have another set for another car from Amazon and it is also darker like set B.

Never heard of Akebono brake pads before....but can't go wrong if YouTuber Scotty Kilmer is always recommending this brand for brake pads.....
Kilmer doesn't know jack about cars lol. But yes Akebono ProAct Ultra Premium are the best pads out there for performance and longevity for regular users. Unless you are tracking a car.

Rock Auto has some of these on Closeout pricing as well or did a couple of days ago. I ordered a number of pads then.

Another pad that is pretty good quality and doesn't get much love is the Wagner OEx Premium ceramic brake pads from there.

Oh I agree, but it is still worth considering depending on the type of vehicle and the price of the rotors. It is also worth measuring rotors when changing pads to determine of new rotors are needed in the first place

Am I the only person who owns a pair of calipers to just measure the damn rotor and let that determine when it needs replacement or whether it can be turned etc?

It is such a simple thing, why complicate it
No.

For our first like-new car ... an Escort ... I bought new rotors (in an unmarked white box, maybe NAPA, maybe Autozone?) so I could drop off the old ones to get turned (I also replaced the missing pad return springs via co-worker's husband's dealership discount, because dialup-era.) Those old freshly turned rotors with 30k miles on them are still sitting in the unmarked white boxes over 20 years later, while I junked the car with 150k on it because F4EAT.

Never turned another rotor since, and the only (other) rotors I ever replaced were on a used car with slide pin issues. My truck has a nifty groove on one rotor where a pebble got caught in the pad. Never had any problems stopping, never bought a dial indicator, never complained about pad pulsations. What even are those?

I've tried the Akebono pads on that same (Japanese) car with the slide pin issues, and I preferred the Element3's bite for less $$$, although they both stop.

Amazon is flooded with counterfeits. Rockauto is a better choice.
