Sodium levels are through the roof! 1650mg of sodium per can is nuts!
Wish they made this with a 300mg of sodium max and then anyone can add more salt for taste on their own!

Absolutely positively agree… Enough with the added salt… just let people add what they want… I seriously doubt anyone would have that much salt by hand… Plus with soup it's really easy to add salt. Exactly to taste because it's easy to mix it in.

Not to mention there's no cream. It's all soybean oil.

I've purchased two different 12-pks in the past and they seem to be re-packaged scratch, dent, and damaged cans. I was not happy.

Progresso makes a Light version of the chowder with 680mg of sodium and reduced fat. I don't know whether it was the low fat or the lower sodium but it was pretty flavorless. Second Snow's Chowder.

It's for preservation, not taste.

I think these taste disgusting regardless of sodium content. Salt is a preservative, that's why canned products are always loaded with it. If it's not full of salt then it's going to be full of some mystery preservative chemical you cannot pronounce. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is, unless you simply make your own food your own way. Soup can very easily be frozen for later, no preservatives or salt required! I make all my soups 4 gallons at a time and simply freeze for later. Cheers 🍻

My math must be off, it is close to $1.50 per can after all discounts. Not a screaming deal.

Our local foodbank is ASKING for clam chowder. Check yours. They'd love your extra soup cans. People out there are hungry.
