Slightly better version of Walmart but, as soon as you deal with their customer service you would feel you're in Walmart.

They are saying it's going to be $19.99 for a 1 year membership (regular not Plus) and on top of that you get $10 off your first in-store purchase which effectively makes it $9.99 for the 1 year membership (regular not Plus).

Costco >>> Sam's

They pay their employees better!

Employees stay way longer, they almost never quit. My friends and family who work there, have been there over 10, 15 years.

I applied once but had to start at the bottom, doing shopping cart duty. But once you get past that phase, it's better. I didn't have the patience to wait.

Benefits are incredible! Their stock option plans are now worth $350,000 to $600,000+

I doubt any floor worker at Sam's has that much in Walmart stock.

This is why Costco service >>> Sam's service. The employees have skin in the game.
Oh I doubt that. My kid started at wally world in high school and has been there about 5 yrs and raves about the place! She bought a house a couple blocks from us this spring for $350k. Just put your nose to the grind stone and get noticed.

Does anyone know if your roadside hazard warranty carries over if you close your account and open a new one with a new email?

My guess is that if you kept the receipt, it would but otherwise, the record of your purchase is lost?

Target stores do not do that. They have a unique approach. Very simple...they monitor folks who appear to create risk and watch them.

Walmart's approach is to at the exit make people feel like they stole something by checking receipts and blocking the exit. (not legal..unlike a club).

Walking into a Walmart is like walking into a Goodwill store.
Are we even allowed to "monitor folks who appear to create risk" these days? Or is that racism/stereotyping/ageism some other woke ism?

Returns are getting to be a real pain. The so-called satisfaction guarantee is starting to exclude anything that can be considered electronic -- at least in our location in NC. We bought a Power XL indoor smokeless grill that worked really well for a couple of months but the finish on the grill plate started chipping off exposing aluminum. I was dumb-founded when the CSR refused to accept the return stating it was an electronic item (note to self anything with Power XL name not going to be found in our house going forward). Even after escalating to the store manager they refused to accept the return. I think what really got their goat was when I did not get angry and simply told them to refund my Plus membership and that since I was no longer a member they could restock the several hundred $$$ worth of merchandise in my cart. I bought another Plus membership in my spouse's name for net zero cost after gift card the next day. Not the best use of time but I got my refund in a round about way...

Just a heads-up that we bought our tires from Sam's Club with the Plus discounted install and road hazard. The biggest issue we found out the hard way is that they pack their tire/auto schedule so tight that they don't have any emergency services available and you will need to schedule your tire repair and/or replacement and that can take weeks depending on location. To add insult to injury, we stopped by Walmart thinking they would honor the warranty. Nope!
$20 to plug a tire! We ended up paying it because our time was worth more than trying to schedule the repair. We have been frustrated with Discount Tire due to their new tread wear measurement but they have far superior post-purchase tire support and will be going back to them for our tire purchases in the future.

Not sure if it will stack, or if anyone has tried it already, but some cash back site offers up to 15% back and I also have a 5% back on Sam's Club memberships on my US Bank Cash Plus card. I would imagine you need to activate the cashback and then redirect to the promo page to have a chance of it working.
I activated 8% CB from one of the CB sites and $10 CB for membership purchases on other CB sites. Already received 8% back, and waiting for the $10 one as it may take up to 45 days from the purchase. Not sure if it will come through but will wait and see.

My comment that you quoted was about violent theft of stores and this reply is irrelevant to that.

My car runs fine with Sam's gas. Shorter lines and way less expensive.
Costco is Top Tier gas and Sam's is not ? ? ? Where did you get that from?
I only have Sam's or BJ's gas in my area. So I have Costco for the wholesale shopping and then buy Walmart plus for the filler items since I can get the items not carried at Costco or what I run out of during the week otherwise, plus use the Sam's gas station. Car runs fine on Sam's gas and there's always a 2-6 car line for Sam's gas in my area. BJ's even gets a longer line that clogs up the turning lanes along a major road for stores during peak hours.

Shopping at Sam's is like shopping at Walmart, not for me
It may depend on where you live, but we saved $1200 last year by switching our shopping to Sams. We buy in bulk for a large family, so things like toilet paper, Heinz ketchup, shampoo, soap, etc., that we use on a weekly basis are much cheaper than buying the smaller packs/quantity at Walmart. At least in our area and we don't have a Costco here either. The closest Costco is about 100 miles away, our city is too small to support both I guess.

We compared our previous years Discover card statements from our grocery trips to Walmart, to our 1 year of shopping at Sams club. We also saved a lot of money on pet meds, as Sams Club gives a larger percentage off on pet meds with the Plus membership. Our dog has kidney and heart problems, so she uses $140 in medicine each month that we were buying from the vet. Switching to Sams for her meds and now it only costs us $129 and change. That was a savings of $10 a month, or $120 a year. Just the savings on pet meds themselves, paid for the membership.

I won't even talk about Sam's Ginormous rotisserie chickens for only $4.98, lol. No comment on how many of those my wife buys a year.

Also with plus membership, we get cash back and it really adds up if your spending thousands a year on groceries, toiletries, meds, etc. Not to mention, the scan and go allows us to never have to stand in a check out line! I absolutely love that feature as I just walk past the registers that are 5 people deep each, lol.
