Slightly better version of Walmart but, as soon as you deal with their customer service you would feel you're in Walmart.

They are saying it's going to be $19.99 for a 1 year membership (regular not Plus) and on top of that you get $10 off your first in-store purchase which effectively makes it $9.99 for the 1 year membership (regular not Plus).

What? Never tried the Sam's rotisserie. I looked at them the other day and the
color on them looked anemic. Not all golden like Costco's.
Give it a try. It actually has texture and flavor instead of the salty mush that Costco sells.

My car runs fine with Sam's gas. Shorter lines and way less expensive.
Costco is Top Tier gas and Sam's is not ? ? ? Where did you get that from?
Last I checked Sam's wasn't top tier. Maybe they are now?

IMO Sam's has a better hotdog and pizza. The combo is also cheaper. I just discovered you can also use scan and go at the cafe. There was a longer line, so I ordered in the app and got my food way before other folks still waiting in line. It was fantastic.

Shopping at Sam's is like shopping at Walmart, not for me
More like Amazon go tbh. Sam's scan and go is a game changer. None of the other wholesale clubs can even come closer!

Actually BJ's has the same feature on their app. I shop at both BJ's and Sam's for my groceries and household stuffs. Never come back to Costco again even though I have their membership (mostly use for online order).

Great deal for those who like Sam's club. All the whining by Costco and Sam's fanboys is nauseating. But seriously, the mountain dew is far superior at Sam's, it's a game changer.

Softener salt alone pays for my membership. My Sam's is very clean and I get great service. I don't even use the scan and go. Using the self serve hand scanner is super fast. Paper towels are indeed great quality. Their Members Mark chocolate is very good for my chocoholic husband. Roast deli turkey is about $5 a pound and awesome quality. I slice it at home. Lean ground beef is a great deal. Also recently got tires and got a great deal and quick service. The bags of frozen grilled chicken breast are really good. Nickels honey buns are priced great, one of the best tasting and seem to stay fresh longer than many. I can honestly get better deals on many items at both Meijer and Kroger if I watch sales, so it's best to figure out what works for you! Not a Costco hater at all, but Sam's works better for me. Honestly, whichever membership is closer will probably get used more.

Don't think the Sam's criticism is universally justified...it may be an individual store thing.

I joined last time this deal came around out of curiosity as a long-time Costco shopper.

I agree the experience itself wasn't great. Poor lighting, worse pizza in the food court, spills that weren't getting cleaned up, etc.

I joined because they carry a few products I like that Costco does not (Old Spice deodorant, Puffs tissues) but that's not enough to get me there regularly.

I'd be curious to try Plus for the free shipping but I haven't been able to bring myself to pay the upgrade yet.
I have had membership with both Costco and Sam's. I had a plus membership bc sams isn't in my town. I really liked the free shipping and found many items were cheaper than Costco. That said, Costco has higher end items, so I actually like them both.

I hate how every Sam's/Costco thread just does a cannonball into the gutter with all the bickering. I have memberships for both. Why not if they're pretty much for free? I got a Sam's Plus for $10 between Swagbucks and my credit card. I'll get that back in rebates in no time. My Costco (after GC) was $7 after Swagbucks rebates. I've been to both many times.

Costco's: Better return process, shorter waits at the pump and different bulk products than what Sam's carries. Not better, just different. Meat selection is a little better, but just barely. And by that I mean things like brisket , whole pork roasts, stuff most people don't buy. I really don't like how Costco doesn't put signage on the aisles. I'm sure they just want you to wander to find what you want and maybe pick up an extra item or two. And the rotisserie chicken and hot dogs....spare us the debate. Both are quite good. But....Costco needs to figure out a better way to get you through the registers because it's just absolute torture no matter what time of day you go. Automotive department and pharmacy, same prices, same services. But Costco definitely is gunning for the 100lb soccer moms who drive a 5000lb SUV to Costco after a trip to Meijer.

Sam's: Scan and Go. Why people don't use it is beyond me. It should be the #1 selling point. Gas is the same price here as Costco but I do wish Sam's would switch to member-only customers. Ours is next to a Walmart and the lines just aren't worth it. I'll go to a Love's nearby for a small difference. I've only returned a couple things to Sam's. Never had a problem there. Product selection here is a smidge smaller, but the Sam's Club is a smaller building here too.

There really isn't a difference. The one difference I really do notice is the Slickdeals Costco Mafia has this attitude of "my shit doesn't stink". The normal Costco customer just has this snobby attitude of superiority. But they're also double-dipping on the free samples just as much as anybody at Sam's would. I just go to Sam's more because Costco is another six miles through town.

So you do you. Just don't be a dick about where others decide to shop.
