For those of you who don't know what this is:

This is a small travel router that connects to an ethernet port of an existing network, OR can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network and used to create your own personal Wi-Fi network but this router uses a VPN to mask your traffic when used.

It can also be used on Visible to share a phone connection with multiple devices but you will be required to use a TTL hack to make it work.

There are a few ways, the one I use is:
1. Connect phone/laptop to captive login wifi.
2. Connect GL.iNet to power
3. Log in to GL.iNet web interace
4. Change GL.iNet router MAC address to the same as that of your phone/laptop.
5. Connect GL.Inet to hotel WiFi, and it'll work.

A big use for this is also when you have a hotel that charges for, and limits the number of devices that connect to wifi. This isn't as common in the US anymore, but still common internationally. Also, if you have a ton of electronics with you, having this would save you from having to reconfigure each device for the new SSID.

Side note, I have this and it works great, the VPN works well too.

If I travel to China, would this allow me to connect to websites that are banned?

These are perfect for a Starlink DC conversion as well! I have the $30 version but will be upgrading now.

Oh I was definitely near an AP since I was in my cabin at the time attempting to set it up, but it was flat out rejecting the connectivity (I can't 100% remember what error I got, but I know I tried for a while at different times before giving up). The cheapo TP-Link I used instead was way inferior and n-only, so it was surprising how that worked over the AC Beryl in one attempt. Ended up returning it.
I think the feature of the TP Link is called WISP and i believe this router doesn't have it.

These routers use WISP too as far as I'm aware since that's just a universal protocol. It just didn't wanna work with that new ship for whatever reason I didn't bother diagnosing too long—was more interested in enjoying the trip than tinkering! I planned well since my spare ended up coming in handy in the end. These are great routers from my testing, just didn't wanna play nice that trip.

I'm a big fan of the GL-MT3000. Took it on a trip last month and left it on for days with no issue. Never ran hot, never disconnected with 5 devices attached to it. I set up an OpenVPN on my Synology NAS and connect with this travel router after I'm online at the hotel. I have the toggle switch on the side of the router programmed for vpn on/off, so once I'm on the hotel wifi, click the switch and I'm on my VPN in seconds. Planning a cruise next year and this will help a lot there. So much simpler and more stable than my old Zyxel N travel router. I just need to find the right case for it. The one they sell is really big and chunky. I'm slumming it with inside a ziploc quart sized bag right now. :-)

Question: if you are at a hotel with a very slow speed, like 2mbps or something (it happens). And you tunnel through this, are all devices limited to this speed? Versus all connecting directly, would each device therefore have a max of 2mbps each?

Great tiny traveling router. Got one when I was traveling to Thailand earlier this year. pretty helpful in the hotel where wifi not great , you can use it for ethernet and VPN connection.
Why would you need this in Thailand when you can get the 'real thing' for less than $80 a pop?! When in Rome!

Awesome! Have actually had this in my cart for months now and was waiting for a deal better than the usual $100 it goes down to. Got it for $63 from the Amazon Business site after stacking coupons! GREAT price! Pretty much half off retail!
How did you get it for $63?
