Same company/manufacturer, different product tier.

The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

lol, same boat. Got a clearance Hart pole saw attachment a while back. Chain kept slipping, so don't use any more. Now I'm climbing trees with my reciprocating saw. smh
arent you supposed to adjust the tension of the chainsaw after using it for a while in a session?

1st time to use one. Didn't read that far into the manual.
I did empty the bottle of chain oil into the tool just to have it leak in storage!

What are the knocks on the circ saw? I'm a home owner/DIY'er, with a very old hand-me-down corded circ saw. I certainly don't "need" a new one, but can definitely be SlickDealed into one and this one caught my eye. I'm already deep into the Ryob iOne+ system due to other SD/DTO deals as well.

Anybody have the mini chainsaw? I have a telescopic chainsaw from a different manufacturer, and after cutting so many limbs, the chain pops off. I'm just wondering if this thing stays together and you can get through a job without a lot of fixing along the way.
I hope you mean tree limbs

That's why it is the $99 price. Still a few good tools in there that I'll pick up for the vacation house at those prices.

I am new to the Ryobi ecosystem. On a previous SD, I picked up an air compressor and the deal included another tool--I chose a light. No batteries though. I read here that Ryobi has great sales in summer on batteries, but I missed it. Is this deal the best we're going to see, or is Black Friday better?

I don't think that sale was ever for two brushless tools as that is the sale I used to buy all my brushless stuff when it came out. I also stocked up on HP batteries at the same time and replaced my older non HP models.

The only two tool brushless kit I remember was the Hammer drill and Impact driver that came with possibly a 3Ah and 1.5Ah included.
It was in 2019, the tool pairs were designated by sku

RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ LITHIUM+ HP 3.0 Ah Battery (2-Pack) Starter Kit with Charger and Bag w/Bonus ONE+

I got the jigsaw + grinder, work light + circ saw, and impact driver + jigsaw (sold the second jigsaw on eBay). Would have picked up a kit with a reciprocating saw, but everything sold out quickly. It was posted here on SD.

I burned out old brushed one (when they were BLUE colored) and replaced it with another brushed one.
I am generally happy with performance. Used it quite a bit during the deck renovation recently. No issues cutting even some 2x. Though I had to break out my corded porter cable one while cutting the stringers.
Now, brushless one that is listed here should be more powerful.

Best advice I'd give is to just watch and wait.
The last "buy batteries/get tool" sale a couple of months ago included 2 batteries as a free tool, so buy 2 batteries and a charager for $99 get 2 free batteries,
Unless you're NEEDING them right now, wait for this to go active and see all the options.

(I've only been doing Ryobi tools for a year or two, and what I've learned, there's always another sale period around the corner.)

Answered my own question. According to HD: "HP batteries provide up to 4X more runtime, 30% more power, and runs cooler compared to our standard lithium-ion batteries"

This is a fantastic deal! It used to be that you got 2x 3ah batteries and one of the crappiest brushed tools in the lineup. I own all but one of the tools on the list and some of them are world-class (in comparison to my high-end cordless tools), such as the multi-tool and the router or just really good, like the angle grinder and the hackzall.

The two I'd definitely stay away from are the sander and the circ saw.
What is your beef with the orbiting sander? I picked up my older model the other say, and it was dead. Haven't used it in a while. So looking at the newer model. The PCL406. What is wrong with it?

Batteries go on sale often enough that $10/Ahr for HP is considered a "normal/good" price (they have been as low as $5/Ahr iirc). That's not taking into account the 'free' tool on this one though.

6 & 8 tool brushless kits have been as low as $150:

https://slickdeals.net/f/16818872-ryobi-one-18v-cordless-brushless-hp-6-tool-combo-kit-pblck106k2-154-94-with-2-extra-6-0-hp-batteries-144-06-299-99-for-both?v=1&src=SiteSearch

But that's pretty rare and goes oos FAST... Even at $300 6 tool brushless made "Popular Deal" and had +16 👍's

https://slickdeals.net/f/16909822-ryobi-one-18v-cordless-brushless-hp-6-tool-combo-kit-299?v=1&src=SiteSearch

It's possible that Black Friday will be better, but then again the best deals don't necessarily have to be connected to Black Friday either.

Once I got an idea of what the "best" prices are, then I balance my need to have the tool right now with my desire to wait for the "next best" price, which may or may not come when I want it too, if at all.

Anyone who is a DIY type or home owner Ryobi brush-less tools are perfectly adequate. If you make a living from the tools you use, go get a higher end brand. Ryobi brushless tools on sale, hack or keep the battery kit, really can't be beat.
I have a bunch of Ryobi tools that are used once a week if that and they have worked great. Their 40v lawn mower has been going strong for 6 years and the battery is still fine.
I'd never pay full price for a Ryobi tool. It seems all their brushless $129 MSRP tools are now new lower prices of $99. Either after 2 years their are refreshing or they realized they are a budget brand and can't ask $130 for a hammer drill without battery.

HP batteries have a additional connections for power delivery. For the HP brushless tools, they deliver more current for maximum performance. You can use HP batteries in non HP tools and vice-versa. You just get lower RPMs using the stock battery in a HP drill for instance.
