The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

You do realize that Rigid is the sister brand to Milwaukee and Ryobi right? The Ryobi framing nailer they just release is an upgraded version of the Rigid. The longer Rigid nail tray is a straight bolt on to the Ryobi and I just added it to mine for building a shed. The Ryobi just runs a bit faster than the Rigid in comparisons. All three share technology though. I've had far more trouble with Milwaukee 18V tools than my Ryobi which is why I stuck with Ryobi in the end for the full size tools.
Yes. But same holding company doesn't necessarily mean same product. Close, sure. But they have to segment the market somehow. For example, Ridgid has the lifetime coverage, the other two do not.

That last bit...that's where I'm curious for Milwaukee v Ryobi...what's the 411? I'm going to end up with one of them sooner or later.

Thanks for your help.

The great ryobi annual toy sale, I'll stick to my Milwaukee
Gotta love the gatekeeping snobbery. How was this germane to this discussion of this deal. Some people like ryobi just fine. I've personally have not had any problem with any tool I've gotten from ryobi. My particular favorite is the edger tool. What I'm waiting for is for them to make a robomower that uses these batteries. Glad u like your Milwaukee. All these tools work milwaukee rigid harbor freight kobalt craftsman for what 95% of the consumers.

What are the knocks on the circ saw? I'm a home owner/DIY'er, with a very old hand-me-down corded circ saw. I certainly don't "need" a new one, but can definitely be SlickDealed into one and this one caught my eye. I'm already deep into the Ryob iOne+ system due to other SD/DTO deals as well.
I got the 5-1/2 for like $25 on DTO and it couldn't even cut a 1.75 (2 by) board.... it was maybe 80% through. I got the 7-1/4 brushless and it had a little left. I'd question the 6-1/2 for everyday cuts.

The brushless 7-1/4 is currently hackable for $90.

The 5 battery kit let's you hack a bunch of tools if you really can't wait...

I want to try their work light but i don't want to invest in another echosystem. Already have rigid. Rigid work light is very expensive.
The "hybrid" tools, like that work light, can run directly off AC power too.

It was in 2019, the tool pairs were designated by sku

RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ LITHIUM+ HP 3.0 Ah Battery (2-Pack) Starter Kit with Charger and Bag w/Bonus ONE+

I got the jigsaw + grinder, work light + circ saw, and impact driver + jigsaw (sold the second jigsaw on eBay). Would have picked up a kit with a reciprocating saw, but everything sold out quickly. It was posted here on SD.
That deal was epic. I ended up with some nearly free tools after eBay sales as well.

Non-brushless angle grinder is only $60 while the brushless is $99. I have plenty of batteries already. Will non-brushless be good enough for odd jobs around the DIY house?
