The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

I tried to buy this in store and was told that it doesn't go live in store until the 29th. So I ordered online for delivery. Has anyone had success buying in store and then returning just the batteries yet?

EDIT: After placing an order successfully at a different store, I'm pretty sure the person I talked to was confused.

Same, I placed 2 orders using different payment method and same issue. Only can cancel whole order and not individual items.

Just tried this, didn't work for me. I cancelled the entire order since it wouldn't allow me to select individual items. This is pretty much why I can never participate in the hack, it never works for me...

I have the mini chainsaw. Absolutely love it, with the 4A or 6A battery it is a great tool.

Besides the 6, I have the 8 and 10 also. Plus tree pruners, and, several gas powered saws and manual tree pruners.

I was in a bucket lift for two weeks on my property with hundreds of trees, pruning dead limbs, trimming up, taking some trees out ... just rotating tools as needed depending on the size of the cut and letting the saws and batteries cool off a bit ... as it was the heat of the summer.

Great tool. I did exchange it ( the 6" mini saw ), because right away it just did not sound right, under a bit of pressure it sounded like a broken drill or some loose bolts in a jar ... it did not die on me, but the others are just quieter and never made any of that sound over the years I had it. The replacement has it less, so far. It may be inherent to the system. I won't know till next year probably until I do a second wave of pruning. Anyway.

Great one hand feeling. I was cutting with either hand.

Super easy to get in tight spaces. Or even reach around a bit when the bucket couldn't reach.
Hold a branch with one hand to support it, cut with the other, toss the branch where needed.

The plastic guard on top flexes, so when doing flush cuts, you will be shaving some plastic off of it.

It is oilless ... so no leaking oil like with the 10" or with the tree pruner. But to help the tool, I periodically drizzle some of the organic saw oil from Ryobi that comes in a small bottle ( just punch two holes in the little foil under the cap, shake before use ) along the chain & bar edge, and then let it run for two seconds, so it draws the oil in the bar and spreads it. Hopefully that helps with durability. As I don't quite like the idea of oilless.

Anyway.

Lovely little saw.
Very interesting, did not know that the ryobi is oil less. I wonder how long this last with the heat and friction generated from the bar and chain.

Its probably fine for a few quick cut on a downed limb like 90% of people would use it for.

I find i try to use my dewalt saws as little as possible because of the clean up after from the oil lol (get out the recip saw). This might be interesting to try being so cheap with returning the batteries.

I have my Husqvarna sitting on a boot tray. It used to have the Ryobi 10" next to it. That one leaks the worst of anything I have owned ( besides maybe my very first old homelite saw ). When the Ryobi 10" came out, I bought it, was absolutely thrilled, for the small work, no noise, no smells, ... but the trigger switch died after a few intermittent uses. Lost 4 hours going to the nearest authorized repair center an hour away, round trip to drop it off, round trip to pick up ... ugh. That was a few years ago. Used it for something this spring. Wanted to use it this summer and it died ... probably the motor, though it could be the switch again, who knows. I saved their and chain for the other saw and picked up the new Ridgid chainsaw instead. Have not really used it besides making sure it works.

Oil. They now have in the manuals: drain the oil after every use to prevent the leaking :/ I am not really interested in doing that. I use the saws to frequently and I'm not going to make a mess trying to poor the saw oil back in the bottle.

So, the oilless intrigues. Like I said, I drizzle some of their saw oil on it ... just because, that's what all saws use for decades; and I don't know which other spray can of silicone or whatever I could use to give it some durable lubrication. Longevity, ultimately, who knows whether I am helping it ... or not.

I don't use them much... maybe 2-3x a year. I tend to clean them up and drain them after every use and hang them chain down to save some space so the oil less is interesting. Thanks for the post. I'm debating if the $50-60 is worth the 5-10 minute clean up 2-3x a year lol. Maybe...maybe not.

For those asking about the sander, I didn't care for it. It was too high for me and didn't seem to rotate (rpm) quick enough for my liking. The dustbag was MEH like they all are. Personally, I prefer the dewalt corded 5" 8 Hole hook n loop sander and not the variable speed one. I ruin 2-3 a year. This may not apply to the DYI types, because sometimes I am sanding/grinding for 7-8 hours in a day. Sometimes I am sanding for days on end for a log home or a huge deck. I have tried other brands like bosch and rigid and I want to say makita and the other green tool, but I can't remember. I prefer the dewalt corded one, when on sale for about 50. One guys opinion and worth everything you paid for it. The cons on the dewalt, bag clogs easy with sawdust if you don't stay on top of it, and the pads seem to wear out somewhat quickly, but they sell replacements.

I have a couple of niche Ryobi tools I use, but this isn't my main brand. I logged in to say thanks to the OP as I bought the grease gun. I own several pump versions with the locknlube tips (buy those or their competitor's) but I wanted a powered one for the tractor and implements.

Anybody have the mini chainsaw? I have a telescopic chainsaw from a different manufacturer, and after cutting so many limbs, the chain pops off. I'm just wondering if this thing stays together and you can get through a job without a lot of fixing along the way.
This is exactly the tool I want to get with this deal. I don't have a ton of work to do with it, but I'd like to know if it's at least decent or a PITA to work with.

Interesting. How did you pay and are you a Pro member? I've tried HD card and paypal and both no option to cancel individually. Ended up calling before the 45 min was up.

Does any one have a review of or experience with the compact reciprocating saw?

https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../313438684

I'm going with the two 2 amp + two tool deal and think it would be strong match with the 2 amp batteries compared to some of the other cutting tools.

It is quite decent. See my comments earlier this AM.

It is compact, very easy to use ... and suited me super well to do tree trimming up high in a bucket lift, or on a ladder, where you can hold the branch you want to drop ... or if you need to steady yourself one hand on a ladder.

The only thing I have done more compact than that is my Bosch 12v reciprocating saw to trim in super tight quarters or trim fresh fibrous plants ... like birds of paradise ... while on a ladder. The Ryobi one handed recip saw could probably do the same. But when it comes to tree branches, the chainsaw is faster than a reciprocating saw ... unless you maybe use two hands, and have the Ridgid recip saw with a fresh demo blade in orbital mode.

Is the circular saw 6 1/2 worth it? Or is the 7 1/4 the go to? The 7 1/4 is not included in this promotion.

Also what do you guys use the multi tool for?

When I tried to purchase this morning, it said "In Store Only". Now checking again it appears I can do online pickup. So maybe the first store was confused?
