The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

Does anyone know if this deal is available in-store? I have a HD gift card that can only be used in-store.

Thanks for this. I was going to use it to cut away some rotted siding near the ground so I could put some putty in place, but I thought that I'd rather get a multitool than a saw, so I can also use it to sand down the cuts afterward. I don't know that I'd get enough use out of a saw to justify choosing that over the multitool. I probably don't NEED either, but I could definitely use the batteries and may as well get a free tool.
It sounds like a multitool would be a great option for that use case of cutting away the rotted siding. I just wouldn't count on it being the best option for general cutting tasks.

When I tried to purchase this morning, it said "In Store Only". Now checking again it appears I can do online pickup. So maybe the first store was confused?
So updating my update:

On the batteries details page, it says in store purchase only. Once you choose a tool and add it to your cart, you can choose store pickup. Placed an order at a different store and just got my Ready for Pickup text.

Any way to get a Drill or Impact driver with the 2 4.0ah batteries? Wanting to start a new tool collection and I think a driver is the first thing I should get.

One man's garbage is another man's treasure. These Ryobi tools aren't treasure, but you get the idea. Too bad the tools didn't work for you. Seems to work fine for so many other people.

It seems like the $119 multi-tool is not even released yet and that's why it is showing as out of stock. The $99 also have accessories but just the soon-to-be-previous-generation multi-tool

I work with my ryobi every day rehabbing old houses. I have 3 of everything. car, home and worksite. Good to have extras for guys that forget things. I have a few of the old blue tools that haven't been lost or stolen yet. Everything still going strong.

PBLMT51
3.8-deg oscillation
20,000 OPM
Faster cutting and less vibration
Tool free blade change
Trigger and lock switch

PBLMT50
3.6-deg oscillation
20,000 OPM
Tool free blade change
Sliding ON/OFF switch

Seems like the new one is better for less than $20.

I've made my money back several times working on my jeep and other things around the house with the Ryobi tools. The battery circ saw is weak, so I have a wired one also. Same for a huge impact drill I have also. Still, changing ball joints, tie rods, skid plates, engine mounts, fences, frames. All good and definitely worth the money. I'm sure the other manufacturers are also good at what they do, but my maths showed Ryobi was the best deal for what I was doing. I'm not a professional mechanic, so I don't need professional tools that cost a mortgage. I bought the new product RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 1/2 in 4 Mode Impact Wrench (Tool Only). It has some decent torque compared to the old one. I'm giving the old impact to a relative that has some Ryobi on the farm.

I've had one for a couple of years now. The blade stroke is a little shorter than the traditional style which I also have but haven't used since getting the new one.

I've mostly used it for dead or downed tree branches that are too big for my loppers.. I like the advantage of using one hand for the saw and the other to hold the branch.

Edit: Blade I use is a 9" pruning blade.
trying to decide between the 1 hand reciprocating saw and mini chainsaw. I already have a regular reciprocating saw and a pole chainsaw. wonderting which one would be better for cutting branches too big for loppers where the regular reciprocating saw is overkill or cutting shrubs at the root level which are too big for loppers. I am guessing but not sure the 1 hand reciprocating saw is better?

You've got to always have bar oil in the machine and tighten as needed. A chain coming off is a maintenance problem, not an inherent design flaw.

I have the Ryobi 18" 40v chainsaw and it's wonderful. Never had a chain come off because I do the basic maintenance.

Also, never cut into the dirt. That will dull a chain almost immediately.
Never cutting into dirt is useful to know. That means a reciprocating saw is better to cut shrubs down to the root?
