The circular saw is the only tool I have from Ryobi that I am not actually a fan of. Blade tends to get stuck often in the middle of a cut. Frustrating. I tend to favor the plug in saws if I had a longer cut to make. For short cuts on 2x4 or something similar, Ryobi is fine.

I think it's really dependent on how much you use them. I've had Ryobi has my main line and do pretty much everything DYI. I've yet to be unhappy. That said, I've only seen pros use Milwaukee or Dewalt. I don't know how much beating Ryobi can take in comparison.

If you're not already locked into ryobi tools, these deals are lukewarm even battery hacks.
I got the leaf blower for $50. How is that lukewarm?

A bit off topic but I was looking at the mini chainsaw but then was thinking the One-Handed Reciprocating Saw might be easier for my mom to handle and a bit safer...thoughts/comparisons of the two for garden work and trimming of limbs?
I have both, the reciprocating saw is really unwieldy, as they commonly are, and harder to use. I've definitely been injured by that thing because I didn't have it against my work-piece fully. The chainsaw is great for trees branches, and causes less vibration. I'd get her the chainsaw. It's a great size for gardening.

I'd like to get the multitool, but does anyone know whether it's decent enough for cutting the occasional 2x4 or plywood?

I'm already in the Ryobi ecosystem, and unfortunately we've got so much [stuff] in our garage that it's easier to have just one or two tools accessible. I hate lugging out the circular saw for that small sort of thing. I'd prefer the multitool to the reciprocating saw since there's more I can do with it.
I think the difference is same as using a scissors vs paper cutter with a wide blade to cut a creased line on paper. If you have steady hands and slightly more time on hand, you can do it with multi tool.

Did your 2nd shipment have any tracking progress? My 2nd shipment has shown no progress just label created. It's been a three days since my tool only arrived.
Same here. Called the customer service line, they said it looks like the batteries were never shipped. Told me to go to an brick and mortar location to get a refund, which I will not do as it is 45 minutes one-way. Looks like there's no resolution if you get screwed out of the batteries unless you live close to a HD store. They will not ship me the batteries separately. Spoke to 3 CS agents and a local HD store customer service and it's all the same story: sorry, go return at a local store and re-order the same thing online.

Seriously? That's terrible. They won't refund you for something they never sent? Wtf.

Have you checked if the blade is parallel to the base? I had one with that issue and I returned it and got a new one working flawlessly

Still see the two free tools with the drill/impact kit. Thinking of doing it twice so my mom and sister will have the kits for Christmas. They keep buying crap ones and could just make use of my tools if they had these starter kits.

Doing the return thing I can get the kits for $80. It's funny how I can get two of these cheaper than one Milwaukee M12 kit which I'd rather get them since they'd be easier for them to handle, and I'm in that ecosystem too.

Can someone please explain the "hack" to me? I bought the $99 batteries and charger and got the brushless leaf blower for free. Is the hack returning the batteries and keeping the free blower? As it turns out I don't really need the blower but I could use the batteries on my other One+ tools. Since it was free is there no refund credit for returning just the blower?

It's hackable. Your receipt will show prorated price for the kit and for the "free" tool. Just return the kit and you can keep the jigsaw.
Thank you!

My main cordless tools line is Ridgid. But there are things they don't make (e.g., stapler) that I'd like to have - in a nice to have sorta way - but also expect to use not these all that often. I understand I can buy an adaptor for Ridgid to ______.

I wanna keep it to one other brand...do you recommend Milwaukee or Ryobi?
Ridgid makes a stapler (though I have the Ryboi and it's fantasci). I own about 20 Ridgid 18V tools and several Ryobi tools. I use Ridgid-to-Ryobi battery adapters so I can use my Ridgid batteries with them.
