Anyone gotten two rebates? Got one last year and now getting a second EV, so I'd love to get it for practically free.

Most states have good incentives. Take a look at what your state offers, as well as what your electric company offers. I am in Maryland, getting 30% back federally, 50% back from the state, and $300 from electric company.

yeah. pretty much all utility providers have incentives. Here in Sacramento, SMUD provides 500 towards the charger and another 500 towards installation.

Pls come to Texas. Instead of giving subsidy, they are charging more for EV. $400 more for EV registration + $200 extra every year without any discount on charging by anyone

What electric company? I use BGE and saw at most a $50/year benefit for charging on off-peak hours.

NC has good incentives for EV charger install but no the charger itself. My utility did pay $1100 for the install of the new 50A breaker, dedicated feed to the garage and the outlet. I can't say that I'm in a bad situation haha but money off the charger too would just be the cherry on top!

They've gotta pay for road taxes with something. And $400 is for a two year registration. https://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/r...ur-vehicle

I left Texas after 2 decades of trying to make sense of why the government there does what they do. All logic is thrown out the window.

This is an unfair tax intended to punish EV owners for not supporting the oil economy.

Please explain where the money will come from to pay for the roads we drive on when the taxes that are included in gas prices are no longer coming in... If there were no extra taxation, ICE drivers would have to carry the entire burden of road maintenance. People on both sides need to research a little more on EVs before spouting off. If you don't want to research, fine. But please stop spouting off and perpetuating this "us vs them" mentality. I drive a M3LR, by the way. I'm not happy about having to pay $100 extra/year, but understanding at least...

Here's some research for you. Btw, I drive a M3RWD and live in Missouri. Your $100 a year is fair and reasonable. However, not all states are so fair. Btw, its not like ICE cars are suddenly disappearing.
https://www.eenews.net/articles/t...ransition/
"It's hard to judge the fairness of state EV taxes because state gasoline taxes vary, from 18.8 cents per gallon in Mississippi to 68.15 cents a gallon in California. So Consumer Reports calculated the level of EV fee needed to raise the same amount of revenue as an average gasoline-powered car in each state. Texas' $200 fee is more than twice the amount needed to replace the gas tax for an internal-combustion vehicle, the group found. Missouri's fee is scheduled to grow 20 percent a year and will be three times the comparable fuel tax by 2025."

I see that you have read articles that support your opinion, but what about from the other perspective? Just simple calculations tell me that 12,000 miles ÷ 30 mpg * 20¢ = $80/year. These are all figures that are VERY conservative. Most cars don't get 30mpg, using the lowest taxation rate, and the average miles driven. However, also consider that the added weight of BEV's have been shown to add 2.24 times the wear on roads that the same ICE car does. (Happy to provide my source if needed.) I feel like Texas's tax is right where it needs to be if you ask me.
