From what I could gather, it seems a good deal for the distance offered and front shocks (much needed for streets and sidewalks that aren't totally smooth). I've found pneumatic wheels help a little bit real shocks make a big difference. Only thing that might want to note that if you have to climb any stairs this weighs 50+ lbs. There are other scooters like the hiboy ks4 pro that chime in around 32 lbs but you lose the pneumatic tires and the front shocks as well as are limited to half the distance on a full charge. Same speeds though.

From what I could gather, it seems a good deal for the distance offered and front shocks (much needed for streets and sidewalks that aren't totally smooth). Yeah, it's a little on the heavier side for this type of scooter, but I think it is the battery and suspension that are the main contributors to the weight. It comes with a 15AH battery which will have very decent range and is generally not found in these type of commuter scooters.

It's my understanding that if scooters were smartphones or computers, GOTRAX would be the equivalent of Lenovo/Motorola. Not terrible, but not really great either. Similar business models too… Flood the market with lots of products and a few gimmicks. Then, say a prayer for sales volume and provide little to no customer support.

In the e world of scooters, bikes, etc... It's pay me now or pay me later. I've got both, and the biggest expense is replacing the battery after 3 or 4 years. These aren't hard to work on, and if they're a big seller, there's plenty of YT videos on repairs and maintenance. The quality of the battery and who manufactured it is everything. Just like garbage off brand AA vs Eneloop. Don't go by volts and amp hours, also check who makes the cells. On ebikes, also check who makes the motor, and weight of the bike. Fat tire isn't necessary if all you do is pavement. You're wasting at least 25% mileage with that heavy bike.

Do you have any recommendations for a beginner bike that's not gonna end up in trash after a yr ?

So I've had the gotrax gxl v2 for about two years and still going. Yes it's advertised as I think 12m range but goes more like 6. It has been durable though and held up for 2yr. Would prob upgrade if I had the money, only ever changed tire.

That's a very very good range for the price, but 51 lb is just way too heavy. I have the GXL v2 for more than a year, solid build, actual range about 9 miles. The biggest problem though is the super loud motor

There is this Chinese brand Niu that just released its first carbon fiber scooter weighing at 25 lb, but it's overpriced now. I think I'll just wait for those to drop before going for upgrade.

Well, mine arrived. It's got some nice features like an electric lock and a physical lock (4 # code) but it feels like it's not very premium. The deck feels cheap, the monochrome gray plastic throughout feels boring, and the blue running lights feel, meh. Also, advertised milage vs what the box and manual say are inconsistent. Ad says 48mi, box says 25-32mi. I'll charge it and take it for a spin in the morning but so far it's less impressive than the Nui Kqi 3 pro I bought for less during the sale. Unless the shocks blow my mind I'll take the Gotrax back to BB.
