Thanks, love Rock Auto. Great prices and always genuine parts, I no longer trust Amazon for genuine parts.
Only downside is they charge for shipping and you could get hit with multiple shipping charges if your products are coming from different warehouses.
True, but I have found that very often the Amazon prices are higher (beyond the questionable source of the part) so they end up being about the same all-in. I believe they do pay for returns if they send the wrong thing, which can happen.
AutohausAZ is another good, longtime independent parts shop.

Agreed, even with shipping they are almost always the cheapest. Plus the peace of mind knowing the parts are real
They always have a 5% off code available somewhere. I've never bought anything from them without one. You just have to do the work searching to find one. I've learned that several forums have them so I search: Rock Auto 5% discount code forums 2023 and hit the first 5-10 links but always come across a current one after some looking.

RockAuto has had active and continuous 5% off coupon codes for at least the last 15 years. This isn't slick or a deal at all.
Maybe not, but this is the first I've heard mention of them having any codes available. I'll search for one the next time I need to purchase if this one doesn't work. Thanks OP

That's what makes it tough. I've bought from RA before. The issue is as you said, especially if you don't care what version of a part you buy. So let's say you're doing brakes and you need F/R pads and rotors. They might sell a few different manufacturers of each, maybe they're all more or less the same price and you don't have preference. Then you notice that the ones you selected ship from different warehouses so you have multiple shipping charges. What do you do? Go back and try to select the correct set of products such that your shipping charges are minimized.
Then I'll compare that with online pickup from a local place that always has crazy online coupons.
Often they wind up being more or less the same price so I'll just buy what I can get locally for simplicity and in case there's an issue I can go right to the store.
If you ever want ti find which parts are closeout for your particular car use this link but change out your car code. For mine its 1355510. When you select your model through the drop down tree, it will be in the address bar. https://www.rockauto.com/closeout...&html=true
Another nice benefit is painless warranty returns. I had an oil pressure sensor fail under warranty. Easy online submission for the request and you have the option to have the new part sent first (charged for it) then you return the broken part after you uninstall it.

If you want to save on shipping when you don't have brand preference, they have a "choose for me to minimize shipping costs" option

They don't pay for returns they take it out of your refund and their return system is a joke. Using their part drop down I picked out spark plugs I needed for a Kia sorento the spark plugs didn't fit. Went to Kia and the part number for the spark plugs same brand was different. rockauto had been using an incorrect plug for the us gdi engine. When I went to return it Rockauto basically said it wasn't my fault and it wasn't their fault so I pay return shipping and if I remember there was a small restocking fee or other bs that I was able to get waived. Buy for the price if you like it but realize customer service is a joke.
