For the Lock Picking Lawyer, this is a glowing endorsement.

Really cheap. The negatives of this lock are it uses 4AA batteries which can fail quicker vs 9V, also the motorized design of the unlock is not my favorite as that drains the battery even faster. I much prefer the Schlage style locks with 9v that you manually lock or unlock which makes the battery last far longer.

But for $20 this can't be beat for places you don't care about as much.

I bought one last time it was on sale (deal was posted here).
It was super easy to install and so far it's been working great.

4 AA batteries will have a lot more energy (watt-hours) than a single 9 volt.

This con is actually a plus.
Also, it's very easy/cheap to replace with AA rechargeables vs a 9V rechargeable !!!

Bummer you can't code the physical key to your existing keys easily like smart locks.

Burglars almost always get inside through forced entry or someone screwing up and leaving a window open or something. Less than 5% of burglaries involve picked locks. I know some people are obsessed with lock picking lawyer, but unless there's a ring of movie cat burglars operating in your neighborhood, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have 2 of these and honestly they suck. They malfunction all the damn time, the lock doesn't open fully when entering a code or print, this leads to me using my key. And when you're holding a groceries this becomes a bigger pain because now I really have to fumble to get my keys ready. Would not recommend.

I disagree that 4AA is going to be a problem with these. They don't use Bluetooth or wifi, so right there they'll last far long than orher more complicated and less safe options out there.

I've had 4 old enloop AA's(not recommended) in mine for a good year and not a peep from the unit.

None of this is a problem if the lock and door are installed properly. If your door isn't installed properly, no automated solution is going to work.

I bought a similar one and it was ridiculously easy to pick. I would not use it on any exterior door
You have to look at exact models. LPL boosted this up for the security pins.

Pretty legit for this price.

AA is a problem. I had expensive Kwikset door locks that used AAs, and without warning they started leaking acid over the door locks and ruined them. 9v batteries usually don't leak acid like the AA batteries.

Not necessarily. I had Duracell AAs that leaked acid all over my expensive Kwikset locks and ruined them. 9v batteries usually do not leak acid.

You just had some bad luck, not the locks fault. I have had a set of 4 rechargeable in the fingerprint version no issues, it lasted over 8 months before I had to change the batteries. That included one Chicago Winter!
