So astonishing the number of people that don't understand the mechanics of this 36 month trade in deal and are immediately dismissing it because it's 36 months. I guess it's sucks to not be able to math.

I am trading in a phone worth $50 for $830 credit and I don't see any way how I come out under with this deal.

I tried by removing content after html and it's displaying $259 cash card. Is there a way to know Which Costco locations have Verizon? My Costco has only T-Mobile. Thank you
Don't know what to tell you I've opened it on my phones and on my desktop computer and my laptop and it all displays. Not sure why you can't see the list even if you scroll down to the bottom.

Let's do the math on this one (for my case, feel free to plug in your own numbers)

I used the Verizon Taxes and surcharges estimator to guess at taxes/fees. https://www.verizon.com/support/t...estimator/

Verizon Unlimited Plus Plan (1 line) = $90 + 27.17 Taxes and fees = 117.17 - 10 autopay credit = $107.17/month
107.17 x 36 months = $3856.12 - $1399 = $2459.12 (Approx. 68.31 monthly bill for 3 years)
Plus upfront tax (8.25%) 2459.12 + 115.42 = 2574.54 - 250 Costco cash card = 2324.54 + 350 (Current street value of my iPhone 11 pro max 256GB)

Total value = 2674.54

Versus

Buying new iPhone 1514.42 (including tax)
Keeping my current Visible plan $35/month (including taxes/fees) x 36 = 1260
Sell current iPhone myself -$350

Total Paid = 1514.42 + 1260 - 350 = 2424.42 or 2774.42 (if I decide to keep my phone)

For me personally, it makes more sense to buy the phone outright and use my current prepaid plan. Not to mention the freedom that comes with not being in a contract. I could see this being a good deal for someone with 4+ lines though.

I think if nothing else this shows that these "free phone" deals aren't really a deal. They just build the cost of the phone into your contract. The people who really get screwed are the ones who stay on a phone plan without any sort of active promotion.

I called the phone number on the link for the promo that says " Call 800-714-2002 to purchase, or upgrade your phone while taking advantage of your exclusive Costco Member Benefit"

the Verizon agent I spoke with said he had absolutely way to check this promo nor any connection with Costco and to call Costco directly Lol
Same here. Bummer

T-Mobile was better. 250 port in credit + 150 shop card. Up to 1000 for trade in.
I called t mobile for Costco. They are giving only $150 for portion and nothing extra. Even though Costco website says $400. How did u get it ?

Those who successfully completed this deal with Costco, did it cost you taxes and fees up front or did they put it on your Verizon bill to pay later.

if you dont plan on switching for 3 years then why not? i never understand the logic between ppl not taking the trade in on a new phone when they can trade in something totally wrecked and still get 830$ credit
I am with you. I don't think people understand how to do math. The carrier is basically giving you a discount each month if you do a trade in.

But it's not a contract. A contract is something that is binding, this isn't. If you upgrade your phone or leave the carrier, you give up the bill credits and you have to pay the remaining balance of the phone.

Back when they subsidized the phones, that was a true contract as they could charge you an ETF as well as require you to pay off the full balance of the phone. You signed a document.

24 vs. 36 mos is just a way to reduce the monthly payment. 1 year more, no big deal. I've been with Verizon for 10+ years. I don't switch providers often, not worth it to me. If you do, then yeah, that's on you to figure out how you purchase a $1k device. The 36 mos bill credits to get a $1k+ device for $11/mo 0% interest fits my needs.
You definitely sign a contract to receive bill credits for 36 months…

I guess if you are locked into Verizon, then you should do these deals every 3 years. I guess I don't understand why people stay with the big guys when the second tier guys, like Mint for TMobile and US Mobile for ATT and Verizon, where you save money all the time.

Is the throttling and speed reductions really make that big of a difference, through I don't know if they happen as much as in the past.

Maybe there are some sweet spots where Verizon plans are not a lot more expensive, but I can certainly live with the plans at the second tier guys and buy a new phone whenever I want and still spend less. I think.

Went to Costco but Verizon guy there was not able to apply $830 trade-in with iPhone 4s although I was able to do it online without any issue. It's a pity to miss $250 Costco card, but I didn't want to bother with them anymore.
There is another $300 promotion in my account for adding a new line with a new device, so I got total $1130 credit by 36 months. Total cost for two Unlimited Plus lines is about $80/mo including tax and fees (about $10/line). Got the phone and activated today. Everything was done online and I think it's better experience than spending/wasting time at Costco.
Verizon website is very hard to navigate and find the price per month without discounts for their plans (because it seems like when I click I'm a new customer it immediately adds some discount). Can you help by informing me the price of the plan for each line without discounts and autopay?

I've used the 2nd tier guys and in dense areas like at busy airports, they are useless. I don't want to pay for service that I can't use. There's a reason why it's cheaper.

I have 5 lines on a 5g Start plan. Has anyone been successful getting the full trade in value while not upgrading to at least the Unlimited plus plan? I pay $30 per month per line currently and the CS rep I chatted with told me it would be $42 per line per month if I moved to the Unlimited Plus plan. Has anyone kept their old plan successfully?
