Where are you seeing you can trade in the iPhone 5 for max trade in credit? Do you get the $830 or $1000? I'm a current Verizon customer on an unlimited plan already maybe even their highest tier unlimited plan so upgrading my plan may not be an option. Looking to get the iPhone 15 pro, sell my iPhone 13 Pro private party and trade in a cheap iPhone instead
Check verizon's website - but the $830 or $1000 is only for NEW line; not for upgrade on existing line.
For upgrade, I think you need newer phone.
Try to do it from verizon's website to see what the trade in value is for upgrade.
For new line, it's full $830 or $1000 as long as it's iphone 3 or higher.

Typically after you meet the eligibility requirements, i.e. activate the device on the plan to complete the "pending order" the trade in promo is applied to your account and you should receive the promo value when you go to submit the trade in at www.vzw.com/tradein. I've have had it not apply/show correctly a few times (out of tens of trade ins over the years) which required working through customer service to submit a promo correction application. This is indeed a time consuming and potentially frustrating process.

Submitting the trade in during the point of sale is definitely smoother and de-risks the issue since your order shows the value up front. However I've typically stacked promotions through indirect sales which usually means no opportunity to do everything all at once. It hasn't been without frustration to deal with customer service but has been worth the effort for me.
Repped, thank you! At Costco's Verizon kiosk, do they enter the trade-in data for you and you just wait for Verizon to ship you a box (or elect to drop it off at a Verizon store)? Or is it still "indirect sales" in which they have no involvement with the trade-in process?

Does Verizon accept phones with battery issues as trade-ins? I have an iPhone 5 with a slightly expanded battery (if you don't look closely at the phone from the sides you wouldn't notice it).
The questionnaire when trading in online specifically excludes phones with swollen/damaged batteries. But who knows for this iPhone promo, as it also says "Nothing on the device can be broken, cracked or missing." So it could be standard verbiage that might not apply to this "any condition" iPhone promo. I think the main reason, though, is they don't want damaged batteries to be a potential hazard during shipping.

Exactly.

Assuming I will keep the phone for 3 years :
From Apple :

AT&T Unlimited Prepaid Plan = $25*36 = $900
Device after trade in( i-phone 11 ) = $799-$200 = $599
Total Cost= Plan Charges ($900)+ $599 ( Device) = ~$1499* + Freedom of Trade-in next year

Costco Plan :

Benefits : $1000(Trade-in) + $250(Gift Card) = $1250
Plan Cost = $90/Month
Over three years = $90*36 = $3240
Total Cost = Plan Charges ($3240)+ Device ($0) - $1250( Benefits) = $1990*
*= Excluding Tax

I usually get a new Credit Care around this time of year that has Joining bonus ..like Spend $1000 and get $200 back and us this card to get phone from Apple Smilie
"Device after trade in( i-phone 11 ) = $799-$200 = $599" what device are you getting for $799? If it isn't an iPhone 15 Pro, your comparison isnt similar.

Call - yeh you lose the shop card but keep your grandfathered plan which is worth way more than a shop card.

Took me all of 30-45 minutes to:

1. Pay off the last month on two devices

2. Order and give payment for the two new iPhones

Order on the phone with Verizon and keep your plan, it's the best way to upgrade this cycle for Verizon period.
Which verizon plan are you on? I'm on 5g start ($30/month) and at least online I don't get the super high trade-in values. I would be surprised if my old plan qualifies for these trade in deals.

Hopefully this information helps especially with the last several posts asking about what phones qualify for what amount.

First and foremost any trade in promotion provided by Verizon is handled by Verizon themselves. Authorized retailers (indirect sales channels) such as Costco, Best Buy, Samsung, Apple, Target, Walmart, Verizon Authorized Retailers, etc. do not take the trade in themselves. Some of them may submit your trade in to Verizon as part of the ordering process but they are not directly evaluating your device or providing you the actual trade-in value. That assessment is all done and provided by Verizon's system. What you need to know is that you can do this yourself. The trade in does not need to be performed at the same time as the new device transaction. Verizon gives you a 30 day grace period because they know you may be trading in your currently used phone and they want to allow you to perform transfers etc.

With the new top tier Unlimited Ultimate plan Verizon has now created 3 tiers (prior it was 2) of promotional trade in values tied to service plan - Ultimate/Plus/Welcome. In regards to how the old plans map to the 3 tiers its generally One Unlimited/(Get,Do,Play)/(Start,Welcome). Older plans like Above/Beyond/Go, The Verizon Plan, Verizon Unlimited, etc. will vary depending on the promotion itself.

Costco's cellular partner on top of Verizon's promotion is offering $250/$100 GCs for new/upraded lines.

Verizon has several promotions going. The one that's topic in this thread is ANY iPhone in any condition for $1000 for starting/adding a new line on Unlimited Ultimate. The promo trade-in values reduce to $830 for Unlimited Plus and $415 for Unlimited Welcome.

What others are reporting is a different promotion where new lines are receiving the same values of $1000/$830/$415 accross 3 tiers with a list of eligible phones that include other manufacturers (again different from the ANY iphone promo). Upgrades are included at 2 tiers $830/$200 where tier 1 and 2 were combined. Unlike the ANY iphone promo upgrades on legacy plans are included. For example Get/Do/Play qualifies for the $830 if your device trade in is an iPhone SE 2022 or iPhone XS and above.

Best Buy is a good source to use as a reference. It includes the list of eligible phones at each tier and with new/upgrade lines.

Are you saying the first post in this thread is wrong? Because the first thread explicitly says that UPGRADES are included in the ANY iphone promo but I think you are saying only NEW lines are eligible for ANY iphone promo. I'm upgrading from 5g start so wondering if I would qualify for ANY iphone or not.

so I've been with ATT for 20+ yrs but I'm totally fine with taking my business to Vz for the iPhone deals.
currently, I pay $151 including taxes and fees for 3 lines (unlimited starter package is what I think it's called).
All 3 phones have been bought outright, so no phone contracts.

Question #1 if I move over to Vz unlimited plus plan, what's the actual per month bill I can expect including taxes and fees? (don't include cost of new phones, I'll do the math)

Question #2 has anyone done this recently at Costco and did it go as per plan or better to do it at a Vz store? ( i obviously want to do it at Costco to avail of the iphone 15 promos )

Question #3 anything to watch out for? ( alternatively, is one devil less devilish than the other or both are at the same level? haha)

my plan is to go to Costco, signup as new Vz customer, port 3 lines and trade-in cheap handsets and buy three iphone 15's. should I expect a 2 or 3 hr ordeal and will all 3 lines port over in couple of hours or will it take days?

Thanks folks!

Thanks!

Costco doesn't carry phones. they just place orders and phones delivered home in 2 days to 2 weeks depending on model. porting can only happen once you receive new phones.

1. Use Verizon web to estimate cost for 3 lines. Keep in mind in order to get this you need to be on the most expensive tier. I believe the add on is optional. Vz factors in auto pay discount and maybe others. Keep your eye on the * and read the details. My though is 3 lines is going to be pretty expensive, you star seeing the savings with 4+ lines. I have 5 lines and pay 38 per line.

Give Verizon chat a try, this way you can get everything in writing so there won't be any problems.

2. They all have the same plan except Cosco gives you 250 bonus

3. Post pay is billed a month ahead and can't be prorated. you probably just paid your last att bill which billed you service until 10/15. If you do the switch today you won't get att to give you money back for 2/3 of the month that you won't use. Maybe $100 lost in your case.

VZ do prorate you for new service, so you will be proate from today to next bill period 10/15 (2/3 of your monthly cost). Since it's a post pay and they bill a month ahead. Your next bill will be whatever the prorate for this month + full next month + activation fees + taxes. It's going to be a very big bill

I believe I am on the plan ahead of you for $40 or $50

Every line including my father's 5G Start plan offered him $830 for the trade in

Lower tier plan gets low trade in value now. That's a new thing VZ is doing. Also moving from 2 years credit to 3.

I am also on the 30 plan, but notice a recent plan increase maybe 3 more. Apparently Vz can change your rate whenever they want since there is "NO" contract

At this point it might be worth to move to the new plan to score the higher trade in value. I am kind of sick of the deprioritize speed with the old plan ano

Verizon made 36 month is a deal breaker for me

My phone doesn't last that long also i get pressured to upgrade phones from family.

Tmobile still has 24 month i get both service equally at my work and home
Cost of service has infreased in tmo but thats the best i can get comparing 3 provider.

This! At least with the old 2yr contract before T-Mobile started this whole "no contract" thing, you could sign up and get an iPhone for $200 and leave anytime with $350 early termination. Now there is no early termination and you must pay off the phone price ($1k+) and they forfeit any remaining discount even if you traded in your old phone. Also there is no contract, so they raise your monthly rate anytime. I remember everyone was cheering for T-Mobile when they introduced no contract plans…….
