Got my 4 new phones. Porting 4 lines from TMO. Call their Porting dept. They start the process, in 10 minutes 3 lines get ported but 1 line they messed up. It's been almost 24 hrs and still not get ported. I talk to them and they acknowledge that their automated system somehow messed up my 1 line so they requested the other department to do it manually. So far no success. Also the other 3 lines when they get ported can't make or receive any calls. Find out one need to power off the device for 5 minutes then they start working .
This.

I don't know why people enjoy switching carriers and making fun of those who stay with the same carrier for years. "Oh no, 3 years contract, who wants that?"

This kind of headache and inconvenience is not worth it. And imaging dealing with this consistently every time you switch to another carrier.

The phone porting has been in effect for like 15 years and the process is still a hit or miss. Why? Phone companies don't have any incentive to improve the system to make it easy for their customers to leave. In fact, I would argue they somehow make it more difficult so some customers eventually gave up.

I have 5 lines with tmo. all the iPhones are like 3+ years old and cracked screen - one has after-market parts. the all need to be replaced though.
is it worth it to even try to do trade-ins with these? I don't want them to take them all in and then tell me that the trade-in is garbage and worth $17

Any one have fine print of the trade in rules? I remember seeing no cracked screen, no battery swelling and no overheating as requirements.

I entered iPhone 3GS as trade in device after verifying it still boots up, no cracked screen etc. Powered the device off and put it aside last week. However, yesterday I plugged it in to charge before shipping and its now stuck in the apple boot logo. Is it worth the risk to trade it in? Or better to return iPhone 15Pro and do Boyd? Went to Verizon store and the guy said I can trade it in and showed me IMEI in the sim slot and they'll accept it.

Understand, I'll lose $250 Costco gift card, but the Samsung phone I have works on Verizon as well

Update: called vzw customer service. They mentioned the terms for this "particular deal" only require 1) no swollen batteries 2) no over heating and 3) no activation lock. Doesn't matter if the phone doesn't power up. They put a note on my account and emailed me that they'll accept it, if it meets above criteria.

I gave IMEIs for phones I don't want to trade in. I received my new phones a few days ago. Has anyone changed the phones to other ones before sending the phones back or is this not possible?

I signed up for the deal on 10/10/23 and received my phones a few days ago. I don't want to activate the lines as I have travel out of the country and get back 11/8/23. Are there any issues waiting to activate the deal or do I need to activate before 10/30?

I made the switch tonight. Having all your account numbers, PIN's, IMEI of trade ins, and your mind made up on what devices you want helps speed up the process. Took about 20 mins for setting up the porting of two lines. Phones ship in two days and you do the activation and porting at home. Attached are some pictures that clarify that different levels of trade ins. Sadly the deal changed where before you could trade in any old iPhone for $999 and now it has to be a newer phone and you don't get as much. In my case I traded an iPhone XS with a scratched screen and an iPhone 12 Pro and both were worth $830 each. I did the Unlimited Plus plan since you don't get any extra bonuses by paying more for the Unlimited Ultra plan. I was able to stack the $200 switcher bonus, $250 Costco bonus, Apple One for 6 months, and one free Apple TV per account. I was also told the $35 activation fee per line would be credited on the second bill, but I'm not sure if that is true as I haven't heard anyone else mention that here. Everything seems to add up correctly on my receipt so it will just be a matter of registering for each benefit within the time frame and making sure it actually comes. Keep track of everything! Verizon once tried to screw me over a gift card for signing up for FiOS and I can see them trying to do the same thing for one of these promos.

Not sure if it matters to you, but I was told billing cycle starts when they ship the units out. Either that or when you received the units. For me, it's not worth paying prev carrier and also Verizon. So I just activated the phones with temp numbers, transferred and traded in the phones.

I was told same about $35 activation fee credit in a later bill. I will believe it once I see it.

I can confirm this to be true, but you have the option of suspending service if you're not ready to start using it.

Full Trade-in credits will be given only from iPhone11 and for iPhone 6 or 7 the credit is $400 ish. Is it correct??
