What's the issue with esim? They were introduced in iPhone X I believe. I have been using esim for a while now and never had any problems.
I've personally never used eSIM. I liked physical sim since I could easily swap SIM cards to a beat up phone

So my issue was that there were issues with the port. I was going in knowing the port process could have some hiccups but I didn't expect this. First, I was porting 4 lines but for some reason the Best Buy rep could not do the 3rd and 4th line.

The Best Buy rep said the port was successful but it wasn't. My old iPhone was still ringing.

Then, the phone that my sister got, iMessage was not working properly. I tried airplane mode, restarts, network resets and nothing. I had to call verizon and the rep helping me was clueless. Told me to disable iMessage and it was saying the activation failed. She said she provisioned SMS or mms and I had to confirm changes. That didn't work. Then She said I had to delete the eSIM and reactivate eSIM but I had to be on WiFi.

So I had to give hotspot to the phone, delete eSIM and the rep had to do things on her end.

After that, I noticed I was having the same issue. In iMessage, my main phone number was there along with the iCloud email. The email was checked but the phone number was not. I kept trying to check off the phone number but it was not going through.

So I'm not sure what happened during the port in process but something got messed up.
I have to go tomorrow and try to get the last 2 lines ported. Once the port for my line went through, Tmobile sent me an email saying that my plan was cancelled. I hope they meant my line and not my whole plan since those other 2 lines were not ported 🤦🏻 ♂️

Apologies for the rant
Hopefully everything goes well tomorrow along with the phones i will eventually trade in

Oh yeah, when the rep over the phone had me confirm the changes, the estimated bill was around $380….for 2 lines only 🤦🏻 ♂️

And the reason why I went to Best Buy vs Costco was for AppleCare to be on the phones since I have total tech.

Traded in a cracked iPhone 4s for $1000 credit, got the $250 Costco card and another $200 for porting in. Planning to sell the old iPhone 13 Pro Max for ~$750 and put that towards the price of the new iPhone 15 pro, so after all said and done, not a terrible deal since I was switching to VZW anyways. At long as rebates and Costco card come through without issue I'll be well ahead of the game considering my worthless trade in.

I see. Sorry that you're experiencing these issues. Hope you can get these resolved soon. BTW iMessage issue happens with physical sim as well and doesn't even involve porting. I experienced it myself and had to dona bunch of googling to solve it.

Good luck

Verizon told me the corporate discounts are no longer available on the new unlimited plans, only the legacy plans that are no longer available to new customers. Which plan are you on?
No that is not true. I am on legacy plan and they tell me that I can't have my corporate discount or my wife's discount and need to update to new plan to get nurse discount.

Received 2 out of 5 Verizon gift cards ($200). Anyone know how to apply these towards bill payment AND also get auto pay discount of $10 (per line). Don't mind splitting payments between gift card and bank account.

I think you guys don't know the difference between a contract and a promotion.

You can leave any time you want, there are no more early termination fees. Yes, now you lose the promotional credits for your new iPhone.

Case in point, I placed an order through my local Costco, despite the fact that I will forfeit as much as $800 in credits I was getting with AT&T on 3 phone lines plus for Apple Watches.
However the $250 Costco cash card plus the bill credits here make the switch worth it. The Costco Verizon rep said that he can get me $300 bill credits dor watches as well.

I upgrade every 2 years typically, so I should get at least $670 in credits.

Now the caveat. Stupid Verizon made me cancel the initial order, that included 15 Pro (and Pro Max) pre-orders. They pretend they couldn't process the credit card payment for fees and taxes. I gave them the Costco card in the store and then tried several other credit cards online. This experience along with similar stupid hassle 5 years ago when I attempted to switch, almost made give a hard pass to Verizon again. However, this time the Verizon rep from Costco worked hard to put a deal together for me, so I'll give him one more chance to place another order.
He is giving me $1000 credit for the 15s even on the unlimited plus plan and I'm trading in even a couple of iPhone 5s that were sitting in drawers (I also bought one for $30, so thatI trade in and upgrade to 15 on all the lines).
I feel like you just wanted to tell your story lol

Just came back from Costco today. To receive Verizon $200 credit, I have to sign up Unlimited Plus.

I have 6 lines, my parents and wife won't use hotspot, so I plan to 3 plus and 3 welcome. But even those 3 plus won't get Verizon $200 credits. That sounds weird.

Plus is $42 each line and Welcome is $27. I'm struggling with saving of 3 welcome 15*3*36 = 1,620 vs full Verizon rebate 6*200=$1200

I don't mind TBH. Where I live, VZW is king and all other carriers have shitty service. I wouldn't switch so it makes no difference to me.

You did much better than me. I was under the impression that all lines have to have the same plan. Ended up getting 4 lines with Ultimate Unlimited… I will see if I can downgrade 3 lines to plus without losing the rebate.

Don't forget to factor in trade-ins. There is a difference in trade-in value for each plan. The Unlimited Plus is $830 vs Welcome at $415. So if you're getting an Iphone 15 iit may be worth getting the Plus plan as the additional trade-in value plus the $200 rebate would more than offset the additional cost.

I would caution you about making changes to your plan. I would triple check the terms and conditions as I believe most say that any downgrade in plan can cause the promotional credit to end. Speak to several reps to make sure they all saying the same thing and try to get something in writing. Also keep in mind the trade-in value will decrease from $1K to $830,

Be careful and better confirm with Verizon before the plan change. My local Costco rep told me rebates and trade-in value is based on your lowest line (all or none rebates, trade-in value 450 welcome or $830 plus), not line by line

i too find the Verizon esim activation is not smooth and Verizon online rep is not very helpful.
The porting was fine. But there were a lot of issues when I tried to activate my Z Fold 5 on the line ported with either esim or physical sim. For example,
1. the physical sim worked for a week and suddenly stop working and I got no signal at all. Nobody knows why
2. the Verizon online rep does not know how to activate the esim on my Z fold 5.

In the end, I have to walk to a corporate store. The technician there seems to be more knowledgeable, who actually create an esim and download the esim to my Z fold 5, and finally activate the esim on Z fold 5.
