I have an Am Pro II in mystic surf w/ rosewood. It gets the nod ahead of my 2 excellent Gibsons and PRS Custom 24. If a Player strat is as good, that'd make this an incredible deal…
There's this guitar!
There's that dark night american pro II (btw that mystic surf looks beautiful!)
There's also the blue denim american ultra
And then, I like that PRS SE hollowbody II piezo in peacock blue. I have a thing for blue guitars, ya know?
I don't think I want to spend $2600, so the ultra is probably out. Even if locking tuners sounds dreamy. I don't want another Squier (like a contemporary) because the name looks like a typo (even if it isn't) and it annoys me. The Am Pro II at least has the rounded neck joint, those are neat!
But is it really worth 3x the cost of this? XD
If you want a Fender, you want a Fender. You're probably not in the market for the best value per dollar. Not hating on Fender, I have 3 right now. Most of their products are just wildly overpriced. This is a good guitar for a reasonable price, and one of the few models I've hung onto. My other 2 Fender models are Road Worn MIM, and they are truly something else, but you can't get those anymore.

I agree. I ended up buying a S1 switch Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster for like $410. Texas specials wail. Since, I've never owned another because of the price. You can't find things loaded like you did 10 years ago at a really decent price. This one comes close with the alder and maple. If I were in the market I'd pull on the tele.
