Before anyone chimes in on a $100 Monoprice strat copy being as good, they're not unless you put $250 into it. But you'll always have a guitar that is worth $50 on the used market.

You can always sell this 2 years from now for what you paid for it or more.

This is a deal for a solid guitar. The quality and resale value make it great buy.

I've bought those Mono strats. Anyone who says they're on par with a MIM is full of shit. They're on par with a Squier Bullet at best. We get it, you're broke. Nothing wrong with that. But to try to preach this nonsense is absurd.

No the Monoprice is actually a better made and designed guitar. Look at the Strat picture. Strings are off to one side of the neck. Strings dont line up with the pole pieces of the pickups. The strat may sound better due to better pickups, but the Mono has a humbucker on the bridge. And that humbucker is normal sized so you can replace it easily unlike any Fender humbuckers.

I play my three mono's everyday while my American Strat sits unused even after putting $369 into new pickups. I could have bought 4 more Mono's.

Just playing devils advocate. The strat looks like a real nice guitar. As a GAS patient, I wouldn't mind picking one up myself.
What does "normal sized" mean? If you're referring to trembuckers or "f-spaced" humbuckers lots of companies use them, not just Fender. And a wide variety of third party trembuckers are readily available.

I feel like if you care so much about a humbucker you wouldn't bother with a SSS guitar lol

For $50 more, they've got a 3-color sunburst Strat with a Pau Ferro fretboard, too.

I have an Am Pro II in mystic surf w/ rosewood. It gets the nod ahead of my 2 excellent Gibsons and PRS Custom 24. If a Player strat is as good, that'd make this an incredible deal…
The Am Pro models are definitely better than the Player series. They're not 3x better, but the fit/finish is certainly improved and the pickups on the Am Pro models are quite good. USA model has a much better neck and fret dressing.

I still own both a player and Am pro guitar, can't wrong with either but they are not the equivalent.

Yes the player plus strat is probably one of the best guitars for a beginner, intermediate or really anyone, if you have the budget. Though I admit I am not a budget guitar expert, I do suspect you can go to the $200-300 range and get pretty decent stuff as well though, so you don't potentially waste money on something if you don't stick with it.

On the other hand, as others point out, this is a fairly good price and you can likely turn around and sell it for not too much loss (if any) if things don't work out.

Wow, this is an EXCELLENT price for this guitar. I bought it last year when it was $550. It's gorgeous and I absolutely love it. It will very likely need a setup out of the box, mine did. The nut had to be filed down a bit, and the action (although shipped to Fender's specs) was a bit high for me. The intonation was also off, though tbf, that's a very simple fix that doesn't require any sort of tools, other than a tuner. Only complaint is that for a guitar that retails over $750, I'd hope for more refined fret ends, but at the end of the day, it doesn't have any negative affect on playability. The frets aren't scratchy and are finished adequately, just not up to the standard I'd hope for at this price point.

I highly recommend this guitar if you want a Fender Strat. I think it the most beautiful color in the arsenal and the tone is chimey and sweet. Zero regrets about my purchase and will recommend this.

For those that claim the Classic Vibe series is just as good for half the price, I'd argue against the claim, however part of the argument is strictly based on taste. I prefer a satin neck over a heavy gloss, and the Fender has a satin back. The Fender comes with upgraded hardware, such as CTS pots (no scratchy sound when you turn them, useful tapering), a more solid and more stable trem system, better tuners, and arguably (to taste), better pickups. Fender also comes with an extra fret, but I'm not sure how important that is. Anyway, at $530, you're only spending an extra $100 over the Classic Vibe and getting all the upgrades.

Thank you, I love this guitar look and always wanted to play stuff like John Mayer music. Hope this is the one. May be pulling the trigger soon

It would be good. My 2c, if you're just starting - get something cheaper until you know you're dedicated and enjoying it.

IMHO - Mexi Strats like this have always been the best value in electric guitars - Especially if you can find them at this price point. Even if you play it once and hide it in a closet for years, you would likely get your money back out of it. Anything lower end (like Squires), you'll end up giving it away to get rid of it. I'm speaking as someone w a ton of guitars in the house and my goto is the Mexi Strat I purchased 30 years ago. Just like the old watch commercial - Takes a licking but keeps on ticking 😄. If you like the color and the price, get one.

From my Monoprice experience, the tuners need to be replaced immediately and the ceramic single coil pickups are unusable. On the other hand, this Fender is great out of the box (but a professional setup is always recommended). Alnico single coils are a necessity unless you only play clean. All the Strat tones the world knows and loves were Alnico magnets.

I love Chinese guitars to tinker with, but the average person isn't going be willing or able to mod one to get to this Strat's specs.
$30 tuners, $130 for pickups, pots, 5 way, $30 for tremolo with full sized block, $20 for non-plastic nut, $120 labor. That's $350 to make a Monoprice Chinese Strat copy into a real Fender Strat. I'm speaking for average person that comes here looking for the deal on a Strat. Why even bother putting lipstick on a Monoprice when you can get the real thing for like $100 more than the copy?
