A warning of the AK2 Plus because of the tiny heatsink inside will handicap its power draw and cooling. It is very difficult to find images inside the computer. The S12 Pro has a considerably larger fan and heatsink. If you have some patience, this can do those tasks well enough because they are low demand. These tasks are what the N100 processors are marketed for. (Assuming you're not trying to back up thousands of 8k images).

I like that you're shopping from a place offering 30 day returns.

There are certainly faster computers. Ace Magician AM06 Pro, AM07, and Trigkey S5 have processors with faster single thread speed for your google sheets and web browsing. The processors also have more cpu threads which can help significantly reducing back up download speeds and maintaining functionality during window updates. The realistic time saved with a faster processor probably will not be revolutionary but something to consider.

Used mini pc like the older HP Prodesk 705 G4 2400G and intel 8th gen processor mini pc from dell optiplex micro and lenovo tiny can be potential middle grounds between celeron performance and more recent i3, i5, r3 r5 processor.

For $150 though it has pretty good specs and it has 4.3/5 stars on Amazon with 703 ratings. Yeah you could go for the Beelink Mini S12 Pro that your talking about and it looks like that deal is still going on but its $20 higher than this deal and the only differences in the specs that I see are Wifi 6 (vs wifi 5) and the Beelink has an M.2 SSD instead of a SATA SSD.

Edit: Actually nevermind it looks like after reading the product description on the Kamrui it also comes with an M.2 SSD.

FYI, the case on these are plastic. The fan inside is small and is "blower-style". I also had an AceMagic AD03 which had a metal case and the fan was much larger, almost the size of the case.

I like that it has support for both 2.5 in SATA and M.2 drives. This means you can put a big SATA HDD and use it as a NAS. Maybe with an extension cable you can even use a 3.5 in drive.

Single Channel RAM, so DDR5 may be a (slightly) better option if you can wait.

Oh that's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing. Well the link you posted says that it can run off a Raspberry Pi, most Raspberry Pi's have only 2gb, 4gb, or 8gb of ram and they use SD cards as storage which are slower than SSD drives. The Amazon page says it can run Ubuntu which is what Raspberry Pi's use but looking at the comments on the Beelink which also has an Intel N100 CPU some of the top comments on that said that Linux based software doesn't play too well with the N100 so I would read some of the Amazon reviews to confirm.

For $180, you can buy an optiplex with an 8th Gen i5 off of eBay. Later on you can slap a cheap video card in it and have a decent PC. Even better you get a 1 year warranty.

Tons of videos on YouTube of people doing this.

The only reason I can see people buying these are for niche purposes.
Yeah the reason I ordered one was because it was cheap and uses less than 10 watts. I want to use it as a cryptocurrency miner that's going to be generating $0.50-$1 a day in crypto.
