I own the LG variant. 38" is really the sweet spot for multimedia and productivity. That extra vertical height is quite nice.

If I had to choose again today, I would still choose a 38" IPS over a 34" OLED. Hoping for the day where they come out with a 38" OLED.

Akshually, QDOLED is FAR more susceptible to burn in than WOLED... Ask me how I know and why I no longer have one, after selling my 3rd replacement. Rtings burn in tests also confirmed this.

I tried a 1440p monitor and I couldn't fit enough of the time line under my window. 1600p is slightly better but not by much.

For anyone debating IPS LCD or OLED, I highly suggest taking time to read into the enthusiast forums so you know what you're getting into, whether it's having to baby the screen or accepting the burn-in (for OLED).
It was rated at HDR400 on the release firmware. It was capable of 1000 nits at release, but the firmware was bugged, causing the entire display to be blown out. The fixed firmware was released a couple months after launch, and it's now true HDR1000. VESA HDR ratings are expensive (cost increase for each monitor they sell), so Dell chose not to have it rated again after release. It IS HDR1000, though. I have one, and it's amazing gaming in HDR1000. I wouldn't use it for productivity, though. I run a 1440p IPS above it for web browsing, etc to avoid burn in.

I have this display and I love it. I would not pay $900 for it. I got it on a recent sale with CB and credit card discounts making the effective cost closer to $600, which I thought was reasonable. Personally I'd buy the LG 34" VA 1440p 144hz for $330 for now and wait for OLEDs to drive prices down more, but if your cash is burning a hole in your pocket….it's a beautiful gaming display

It might not be the greatest but i am using it for both and it is great monitor. Darker than regular IPS.

I have this model since fall 2022, and can confirm that I cannot hear the fan. Also after trying Alienware 34 OLED and this one, I decided to keep this 38 non OLED model because text was not very sharp. My typical usage is 80%productivity/20%gaming, so sharp text was way more important than perfect blacks (and 4inch smaller real estate). Also burn in was always on the back of my head. Windows is not doing any good job to prevent burin in OLED panel by default, and a lot of static images is also not helping.
