The first gen SE is essentially a Series 5 with some features cut down. "Valuable" is a matter of whether it does things you need, and how long you plan to use it (as it will likely have a shorter software support window than newer models). For instance, if an always on display is a big deal for you, like the poster above, then this is not the model to get. Ditto for heart health tracking features.
If you're taking about resale value, then no. That's why they're on clearance
Newer versions have always on display.
40mm SE GPS+Cellular is also available at selected Walmarts and some models for shipping for $129, 44mm for $159

one thing i couldnt stand about apple watch was the slight delay when you turn your wrist to check the time to when the sceen turns on. watches are for quickly glancing at the time and this seems to defeat the purpose, now you check the time, wait for the screen the come on, and then check the time. going backwards imo.

I thought we are at 8/9th Gen. Is 1st Gen still valuable?

I've been using the SE for exercise tracking, sleep tracking, morning alarm, and checking notifications avoiding doom scrolling in the morning. Works out for me really well, and it got the newest OS update a few days ago. Still a functional device without all the perks. For the remainder of the day, I just put on a Casio.
