Hey everyone!

Ibotta links haven't been allowed on Slickdeals for a few years and we'd like to try allowing them again.

Starting right now, ibotta links are allowed and will not be blocked. We're going to see how this goes for a month and then check back in. Our intention is for it to stay unblocked. Thanks!

Blocking iBotta was to avoid competition with SD's cash back program; a program which never offered cash back on grocery & DS items. Most iBotta deals are for drug store & grocery items. Since we couldn't mention iBotta on SD many grocery & DS shoppers migrated to other sites.
Good luck getting those folks back.

I must say that for past few recent years, the grocery and drugstores crowd have migrated to other platforms such as facebook, instagram, telegram, etc. which are more readily available and there is no need to fear with the mention of the mostly rebate sites such as Ibotta. Granted it is a rebate site but mostly for groceries and OTC items and rarely does anyone use Ibotta as an online cash back site since the offerings are so limited and subpar compared to most other competitors. I think it's too late for SD to get those folks back. Maybe back in the days over 1-2 decades ago, SD was the main forum for those discussions but it was quite a poor decision for SD to limit those folks to freely discuss deals which likely has zero impact on SD cash back referrals. There is no turning back. I'm glad to see a few who stuck around but certainly not as active and as lively as it was back in the days. I remember when there were a few hundred posts in almost every weekly Rite Aid forum and now it's pretty dead as many have migrated to instagram or facebook.

I stopped contributing to the grocery store deal threads but almost every single deal I found/did involve ibotta. If I couldn't mention it and couldn't discuss it then there was no deal. I was not able to bring anything to these forums with the ban.

Ironically, there are rarely 'links' involved, it's simply an information share on a specific sale at a specific supermarket.

Where SD kind of irked me was sending me warnings regarding saying IB, that I was to not utter the initials saying I was circumventing the rules. The enforcement was over the top in the grand scheme of things. Then I went to THAT APP (like Marlo Thomas in THAT GIRL) which is so generic some newbies had no idea what it was.

Glad it can be mentioned but from the get-go the only posts that should have been policed were specific mentions of CB amounts at retailers on HD posts. Their grocery rebate platform is so distinct from cash back that it was kind of silly to forbid it.

I'm glad we can now utter this once disgusting and vile word on SD. IBOTTA!! There I said it. laugh out loud
