That MSRP is crazy. It is only $129 at Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Harman.../459148091

That $129 listing is a 3rd party seller that I would not buy from (too many 1 star reviews), but this speaker tends to run $199-249 when new. The ridiculous MSRP is due to Harman's listing and they have done that with this line for years.

These at various generations have historically gone down to this low $100 range, and the mixed reviews often take the high MSRP listing into account. These sound good (especially for $100 price point) and look nice, but are a bit less practical design that typical Bluetooth speakers (not water resistant and shape not great for tossing into a bag/portability.)

That Rtings link posted above is the previous version (Studio 6), which is different enough that I would not extrapolate. For example, this has dual tweeters in stereo, while the Studio 6 mixes down to mono.

Something has got to change with these stupid SD MSRPs. They should be the "typical price" or "average price at other retailers". Then you'll actually know if it's a good deal or not. As it stands, I just don't trust it.

Don't be fooled by msrp. These are 100 like once a month or something.

The last great Onyx made was the Onyx 4. Everything after that was downhill.
Been rocking mine for 3 years now. Best sounding bt speaker for $100 or less.

If I constantly connect it to wall outlet, will it keep turned on? I wish to use it as a speaker for my desktop but don't want to turn it on/off all the time. Just want it to be turned on all the time. Will it do so?

From my experience & reading online reviews, the last great Onyx made was the Onyx 4. Everything after that was okay, but really didn't sound as good.
Yeah, I've been going through specs and it actually seems like the Studio 3 is the best one; quad drivers (2x75mm and 2x20mm), which seems better than the 1x120 and 1/2x25 some of the newer ones have. Studio 3 had a higher power output too (60W) vs the 50W on these newer models.

I have the studio 2 which also had 2 woofers and 2 tweeters as well and pushes 60W as well (via AC power) and was like, hmm maybe it's time to upgrade, but I guess not!

Usual price. This thing is always on sale for 100$. I would buy it if it was 50$ or less.

I'm blasting this thing and the other 3 units in my apartment building can hear me. If I had the bass on then I'd probably get evicted.

This thing packs a serious punch, so be sure to try it out without the bass (hold down - and Bluetooth buttons for 10 seconds) , same buttons to turn bass back on. horrible design.

I bought this last year at the same price. So far, I am impressed with the sound quality, has pretty good bass, and runs pretty long on battery even after one year.

Just in case someone prefers to buy Version 8, here are some options - Version 8 is $200 on Amazon (black one only). And the 'renewed' version 8 is $130 on Amazon.

Some differences between ver 7 and ver 8. Version 8 has Bluetooth 5 while ver 7 has Bluetooth 4.2. And so ver 8 can connect to multiple devices at the same time. Also latency might be lower on ver 8. Version 8 also includes a microphone for phone calls which ver 7 does not have. Finally, version 8 can be charged via a 2-pin power cord, while ver 7 needs an adapte with a barrel pin connector (I do find it kinda stupid that they don't support USB-C charging).

Who, his wife? Great, now if he doesn't buy it, he looks like a wuss. So I guess you gotta buy it.
