Go ahead and send in whatever you want to trade in now. We haven't hit the Oct. Prime Day, much less Black Friday prices yet. This price or better will be had again. I plan to send in a device today or tomorrow just to have the discount on my account in case I can't get instant at the time I see a good deal. And if I can't find a good deal to use it on, I don't care because I'm lousy with old Amazon devices at this point.
A new quarter just started for trade-ins, fyi. When you send in a trade-in, there is a specific period it's good for. If you send it in near the end of the quarter, you just get a little time. But since a new quarter just started, any discount you get will be good until Jan. 1, 2024 - at least that's how it looks to me. Here are the terms: https://www.amazon.com/b?node=238..._is_tos_pr
They got smart. The 20% discount only comes off the sale price now, whereas for years and years, it always came off the full MSRP
There is a very easy fix for this. Rename one of the devices to respond to another wake word instead of Alexa to echo or something else like computer. Then, there is no confusion.

Which is a better choice, 5 (3rd) or 8 (2nd ed)? Other than the screen size, what are the differences between these two products?
i have been wondering the same and if you search this question, there are some discussions of it.
The 8 has a better camera (13mp vs 2mp) so if you're doing video calling a lot, that's a consideration. But if you just want a show for your bedside table, the 5 might be a better choice.

I got in on a previous trade-in deal with a dot for $5. If I don't end up sending the dot back will Amazon just not give me my $5 trade in allowance or will they also charge back for the 20% discount I already got? I also rather not be blacklisted ;p
