The lasertips are great, but I'm not sure if I need 4 different sized pry bars aka slotted screwdrivers with these.

On the one hand, this seems like an excellent deal on a set of high end screwdrivers. On the other, you'll probably end up spending more in the long run buying this and then collecting the rest than if you just bought the full set.

The trouble with nice tools like these from Wera, Klein, Vessel, and other top tier tool manufacturers is that once you use them and realize how good they are, you want to collect them all like some adult pokemon shit. If that's you, plan ahead and do a cost-benefit analysis of pieces versus buying the whole set.

Honestly, Phillips is shit too. Let's make everything Torx and Hex. At least replace Phillips with JIS.

Is this wall hanger metal or plastic?

Bought these at a similar price in 2020, durable and super high quality. Began to add other Wera items to my collection bit by bit when their tools are on sale.

No doubt. Is there an single application where it makes sense to use a slotted screw? Aside from wall plates, they are about dead.

I find slotted screws every now and then on really old power woodworking tools, but that's a pretty eccentric use case. Otherwise, yeah, pretty much just the occasional wall plate or grounding screw. But I do find the lasertip feature extremely effective on the philips and pozidrive heads. Thought it'd wear off quickly, but it hasn't so far.

I agree. If you get them on sale like this, Wera screwdrivers are well worth the money.

good call. almost bit on these. the set with 2 slotted 2 posi and 2 phillips is considerably more, but thats what id want.

I bought this same set years ago and never realized it only came with 2 Phillips...thought it was 3! I've blamed my wife for losing one for years! Glad this alert came up, feel terrible and need to apologize.

The worst kind of screws. Even cross screws can be a pain. I wish we all universally switched to star shaped

JIS itself has already been largely abandoned in favor of a common DIN/ISO standard.

2 other applications:

1) is for areas that might be painted over even if they shouldn't be. When they are, you can dig out the paint from the slotted screw pretty easily and still unscrew it.
2) is for aesthetics. there are certain areas a screw is required but can't be hidden without making things look cheesy. a nice brass slotted screw can look super clean
