How do I qualify for the $300 discount?

So Either I pay ~$800 = (watch)+(phone)+($110 store credit)-(old 7 Pro)
Or I pay ~$721 = (phone)
The way I see it is if I go through the Google store, I am trading my phone and $80 for a watch and $110 store credit. Assuming my old phone is worth $450 - It's pretty much a wash.
Maybe I am overthinking it.
