Although the Best Buy product listing reads "Save up to $1,140.00 when you trade in a similar device [archive.ph]" (screenshot [archive.org]), there is currently no trade-in value that high. When I collected the data from all 2816 eligible trade-in SKUs, the highest trade-in value was $950.00.

Meh, gonna wait until some truthful reviews come around. I already downgraded myself from pixel 4a to 6a once and I ain't fina do it again. I hate my 6a say the least.

The 7 has some faults but it is much better than the 6a. 1st gen Tensor SoC sucks.

Yeah, but sure you know that the point of deals like this is to get people to switch from iPhone? Not only that but Apple never does no-contract trade-in deals to begin with so it isn't a fair comparison. All the iPhone deals are always with an agreement from a carrier, or you are otherwise left selling the phone yourself and then buying a new iPhone outright.

Also, even comparing the iPhone 13 Pro Max to the Pixel 7 you have to figure that the iPhone costed $1100 and they're giving you $920 or 83.5% of the value whereas the Pixel 7 costed $599 and they're giving you 75% of the value. Google's offer is still really competitive, especially since the Pixel 7 included $100 GC's with preorder.

Another alternative is wait 6 months and buy Pixel 8 for $450. An Android phone holds value about as well as a trailer home or a BMW.

Shockingly - it's not. At least not if you are buying the unlocked version of the phones.

The Verizon specific trade in sucks (must finance phone for 36 Months, and 800 credit is spread over that time frame)

This deal is from bestbuy and works only on the unlocked version. The fine print states that the trade will be issued as a refund to your original method of purchase after it processes. I was on the fence about this until I confirmed all of that.
