Have the SD redirects stopped working for anyone else? In the past few weeks about 80 percent of SD links end up at a "400 Bad request

Wasn't yesterday 8gb, no Iris, and 512 for about the same price?

Agreed. Though a higher NIT count screen is right up there with my needs.

I'm still trying to decide if I should keep my refurb $600 Lenovo Slim 7i 14" (i7-1260p). It's got a waaaaay better screen and brighter. I generally like 14" form factor, but honestly my eyesight is getting bad enough that I don't really need a 2k laptop screen (as I can use an external monitor when I need more pixels). I'm also annoyed that it's just to thunderbolt ports so I'd have to carry a hub around everywhere. I'm starting to think a reasonably compact 15.6 might be the way to go. That said, I use my laptop outside a fair amount -- it's gotta be at least 300 nits and 400 would be better!

I'm hoping to get something for (up to) $700 in the now-to-black friday timeframe or decide now to keep the slim 7i. If anyone has suggestions, throw'em out please Wave

Just FYI, Dell doesn't offer a backlit keyboard for any of their Inspiron 3000 models i've seen, which sucks. You can only get that feature from a 3rd party like Office Depot / Max. Office Depot / Max only has this model with a backlit keyboard but Dell will not and doesn't have this as an option. Same as a touchscreen for this model.
Dell has a contract with the 3rd parties to have these features but in return Dell can't or won't sell them with these feature. It makes no sense to me why Dell does this besides if you want these features you'll have to go buy it from one of those 3rd parties so it's giving them the business.

Increase your display scaling or just revert to a lower res (saves battery anyway).
The refurb slim 7 is/was a great deal for the specs.

HDMI is 1920x1080 @60Hz. No 4K/2K output.

I find this hard to believe, though.

How's Inspiron build and longevity?

Been a while since I used dell. And last time I heard, all their consumer laptops (like inspiron) are crap

Thanks. Yeah, I do that with the scaling res anyway. Like I said, trying to decide. I hate the touchpad but keyboard is fine. Would it have killed them to give me ONE more port Please

It's still available at $609, btw. https://www.target.com/p/lenovo-s...A-89133965

Only the 35xx line has a backlit keyboard. But the 3000 series is the budget series of the Inspiron line. There's more corners cut on these laptop models, some still using a SATA controller for their m.2 drives. You'll want to shop the 5000 and 7000 series for more quality and extra bells and whistles.
