love mine and i don't have to worry about burn-in or blurry text
Vs the oled... This has the resolution. 1600 for productivity is a big difference vs oled's 1440.

I have 3 of these on my desk since launch day. Fantastic to live 8-12 hours a day in front of.
More expensive.
Lower refresh rate.
Zero display ports.
Zero curve.
Not an ultrawide.
Not a monitor.

It can do 3840x1600 no problem and for those times where you are playing a game that doesn't support UW resolution it will do native 4k too. Expand your mind.
How does one get that 3840x1600 resolution to the bottom of the screen, instead of the center?

The OLED burn-in hypochondriacs WAYY overestimate the frequency in which that occurs in OLEDs...especially in modern panels. I have CX OLED 55" that I've been using as a monitor for 3 years basically 16+hours a day with mostly recurring content (leaving games on, leaving desktop on) and I've experienced 0 burn-in and 0 issues reading text (lol that's a thing?). The CX doesn't even have any of the newer OLED tech that additionally wards off any risk of burn-in...

We will just go with your sample size of 1 and not even be a little bit concerned about it. This seems to be the most logical approach.

Mine either. (AW3423DW)

Recently I purchased an IPS Ultrawide, the LG34GN950-B for ~$950 after tax. Then I tried an AW3423DW. After trying the AW3423DW, and seeing IPS glow + dimmable zones of the IPS panel in dark scenes vs true-black on the OLED panel... It was a no brainer.

Ultrawide IPS returned, Ultrawide OLED purchased. Can't recommend avoiding a $900 IPS enough while OLEDs are available near the same price.

Nonsense marketing term.
I looked this up and yeah it's an LG marketing term for their wide color gamut IPS, which apparently have bad response times and worse there apparently are IPS with wider gamut ranges as well, so it's not even very good tech

Heads up, I do keep my brightness under 70 and try to do the panel refresh whenever it pops up (which can be untimely) but I noticed no issues with text (could be due to running scaling at 125%).

I did have an issue on a monitor with the anti reflective coating separating, which is a completely different issue (looks like the screen has bubbles or water marks in spots, most noticable when screen is off) but I got it replaced because of that

You can change it in the settings. First make sure the screen mode is set to game optimizer, then go to picture>screen position.

Pixel refresh pop up only happened to me once, and I selected (not exact terms) "do the refresh when definitely not in use mode". Gotta be there somewhere in the on-panel settings... Constant pop-up would bother me, too.

Glad you got it replaced, at the price it should be in flawless condition for whoever buys it new.

I bought this monitor around black friday last year for a little cheaper, I think like $600 (there were a bunch of cashbacks via third party sites and a dell offer from my chase/amex can't remember).

Absolutely love the monitor! Great for work during the day (with my macbook) and then I swap and use it for my gaming PC at night. Only downside is the one display port in... but I bought a cheap displayport switcher on amazon that works well enough.

For those saying that OLED is better and that burn-in is overblown...

It is cool that with your limited experience - you haven't noticed burn-in yet, but it is a literal fact that the O(rganic) in OLEDs degrade with use. They get dimmer with time. It is literally a byproduct of their function. Burn in occurs because some pixels get more use than others, thus degrading at different rates.

Modern OLED firmware does a lot to try and limit the degradation - but it happens nevertheless.

Meanwhile, something like this monitor will likely look the same in 10 years. Likely measurably dimmer than brand new, but uniform and definitely usable. I have a U3011 - IPS from 2011. Still very usable not no distracting artifacts or burn ins.

I own a 42" C2 and the LG variant of this monitor (38" IPS). I prefer to use my 38" for general purpose / productivity, and 42" for movies and console gaming. I didn't use my OLED as my main monitor as I didn't want to worry about changing my computer usage habits and babying the screen to minimize burn in.

I bought mine from Dell last year around Black Friday for this price minus 15% cash back from a website. Very happy with it. The extra vertical 38" 1600p over a 34" 1440p makes a big difference for me. Do I wish it had better contrast? Sure, but it's not a deal-breaker. I have it set to 120 fps, 32-bit color, 15%-30% backlight.
