Yeah, that $40 a week is brutal...said no one 😂🤣. Keep coping at the charging station for a half hour
Gets me $35 more a week than you have! Lol it takes 5 seconds to plug in at the house, I spend less time charging than you do pumping gas.

Wait till next year if you are not in a rush. You can get new and certified pre-owned from Tesla for much lower prices with the Instant IRS tax credit. $7500 off invoice for new and $4000 for used. I got my Tesla Model Y used from Tesla because I don't qualify for the tax credit. It didnt make sense to buy new since the price has been dropping since 2022. I know folks who bought it for $65k+ ...plus there will be a lot more good EV options next year and the Tesla network is getting opened to other manufacturers.

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
not to forget the rusting and half the mileage up north

Model Y is not much better. Trust me. I hate it.
I traded my model Y for a Kia Telluride and couldn't be anymore happy. I miss the acceleration with the Tesla though.

For $4.5k I lost on price drop I could buy 900 gallons of gas. That means I lost around 2 years of driving.Smilie. I don't really like Tesla and will look for something else, but not Lexus, it is much worse than Tesla. I can't even imagine how disappointed people who bought Telsa last year.
Things I personally hate, and my wife agrees with me, in my Tesla Y.
* The internals are plastic and too plain.
* Crazy noisy on freeway
* The camera at the back is garbage
* Only stupid display in the middle. You need to have chameleon eyes
* The mirrors are very small
* The blind spot feature was developed by idiots. No sensor on the mirror and no sound when the blinker is on and car is near.
* The Tesla info system doesn't support Android or Apple phones. You will be with 20 years old design Tesla operating system.
* The glass roof is very bad. Doesn't protect you from scorching sun. At least the roof cover is available on Amazon.
* And camera instead of parking sensors was a huge mistake. Again looks looks idiots were creating parking camera algorithms
* The car is heavy and suspension system is not comfortable.
Ok, what I like is a size and how fast I can accelerate.
I came to the exact same realization. 🥰

Since you asked. The extrapolation seems to put it at about 12%, so a far cry from the 200 mile loss that was mentioned by the poster.

Model Y only gets about 70% of the advertised range in real world driving to start with FYI. Check gjeebs on YouTube if you don't believe me but I own one too.
Most cars wont get their EPA numbers, to be honest. Tesla is definitely stretching their numbers but I do get pretty close to my estimate on my Model 3. My round trip drive is 80 miles a day, and my full charge reading on the 2022 model 3 is 266. I know I can always go 3 days before I need to charge again, and end with about 10% or 20ish miles left.

More discount at the end of the year. They want to clear inventory and make room for new 2024 model y that is expected to have range upto 500 miles.

My 2019 currently has 175k miles. Depending on the average driver I'd say that's roughly 14-17 years of miles and I don't take care of my battery at all. Currently sitting at about 15% battery loss after all those charges. Aside from tires and suspension stuff, the drive train is rock solid.

I wouldn't either. We own both Tesla Y 2021 and RX 350 2022. The Lexus is very comfy and quiet. Oil change may be once or twice a year, depend how much you drive. Tesla does accelerate really fast, yes, very, very fast. You can speed past any gas car to enter the freeway with authority, but other than that, it is a poorly engineered car.

The hatchback acts like a funnel all of the rain to your trunk. So don't open the hatchback when it rains. The window/door/camera randomly malfunctions when it rains as well.

These guys will tell you no maintenance cost. But they left out that it is very heavy; you will need a new set of tires almost every year (~$1000-$1500) if you drive about 10K miles a year.

And, depending on the electrical in your garage, you will need on average, about $3K to install the home charger.

And lastly, this shit guy sells you a ~$50K (somewhat semi-luxury) without a garage door opener!!!!! #$%#&^&$%$%#$#
The tires aren't due to the weight, they're low profile sporty tires. Pretty normal to only get 12-15min those. The RX350 is a numb boring car. A Highlander with some leather chrome. Other than reliability, it's as boring as you can get.

lmfao the dude in the vid spent $19k in repairs. I'm almost 250k miles in my civic and only repair I've had to do is a starter ($100)
You've had really good luck! These are the estimates for a Honda Civic, driven 20k miles a year, with 250k miles:

https://repairpal.com/cars/honda/civic/2011

Estimates about 5,000$ in repair costs. Now obviously some will have 1$ and some will have 10,000$.... but thats the average. Hondas are highly reliable though, and it seems the video had the biggest impact with a subaru which may be less reliable in comparison.

You'd also have the fuel costs though, so that difference would probably be smaller. But hard to beat a honda in reliability against any car.

Charge for an hour to be able to drive halfway across town and back 🤪 unless you have a fast charger....which probably costed anywhere from $1500-$6,000 to have installed. Which is $1500-$6000 more in my pocket than you 😂🤣

You can't even get a new Model Y to come close to hitting it's intended range. Most MY are getting around 250-270 miles that is supposed to hit 330 miles on a charge. No chance a 10 year old battery is only losing 30 miles of range. Neighbors battery is just under 80k miles and already 13% degredation on his MY.
One thing is degradation (charge pack reduction) and another is tesla inflating their EPA numbers (which they are getting sued on in some districts).

The data seems to show that it does plateau at about 12% or less:

This one has only 7% in 7 years.... degradation.

Which on a 300 mile pack (cutting 30 off for inflated numbers) is about 31 miles.

How big is your town that you need 300 miles to do that?? lmao.

my wife loves Lexus (friend has RX350) way more than she loves me. After I got my model Y, she went for a model 3 and fell in love with it. no more Lexus for her. Keep your Lexus if soft/cushion drive is your top priority as Tesla Y/3 rides is more rough. Otherwise, Model Y all the way! Too many good things to list, and too much misinformation, but here are some positive things, in order of my own ranking:

#1 Safety is off the hook (frontal crash with Van, van driver died, model 3 driver walked out since no front engine. search you tube. or that depressed doctor who drove his family flying then rolling down a cliff in the model Y smashed to oblivion but everyone's got minor injury)
#2 Sporty drive and so fast. changing lane, merging into freeway, or just speed up at yellow light, makes it a lot safer and faster to get around in general. you have to own it to really know what I mean.
#3 save on gas and no hassle going to the pump, plug in at home like your phone
#4 Autopilot! relaxed driving on freeway. priceless for commuting.
#5 1 pedal driving! no need to brake at red light. also huge screen for backup/left/right camera. see everything!
#6 low maintenance, just the tires. oh, and no more keys or having to lock doors! or remotely venting/heating/cooling/defrost.

the cons are: rough ride, noisy, tire wear, and low battery if you go longer distance than 3 hours. all I can think of.

Had to drive a gas car in Hawaii on our vacation and I hated it so much. no more gas car for us. at these prices, Y/3 is a no brainer to me if you need a new car.
I think your wife would love the 2024 Model 3 with more comfortable suspension.
