Hoping someone chimes in here if this is decent or too old. I'd use this during the day for diagramming w/ a pen, hanging in the car for the kids on car rides, and maybe simple browsing. This should be more than enough or is there a better option?

This is an M1, the last generation but more than powerful enough to run anything current. I have the 12.9in version, but at this price I had to order this as well.

I have no idea why someone would down vote this.

This is absolutely decent still! I was going to order the 4th Gen model w/ M2 and ended up getting a Woot deal for this iPad w/ 1TB storage for $829 instead (only $30 more than the base 4th gen 11" iPad Pro from Apple) and it is awesome! This is a good price for the base model 128GB but with cellular built-in if you want it. I compared this 3rd gen vs 4th gen and the only 2x differences I could find were that the newer one of course has an M2 processor vs M1 in Gen 3 (Both still way overkill for anything you can do on an iPad today) and the newer model has Bluetooth 5.3 vs 5.0 on Gen 3. So yeah, not much difference. However, be very aware of what skin or case you buy for this (if you choose to do so) as the top speaker grille, power button and volume buttons were moved ever so slightly between 3rd and 4th gen iPad Pro 11" models - Found that out trying to put a newer dBrand skin on my 3rd gen, had to have the proper one re-shipped lol). Very happy with mine and confident it will be supported for years to come! (Bought the AppleCare+ on it as well, found a cheap used Apple Pencil from Amazon Warehouse and was able to add it to my iPad's AppleCare+ plan free so it's covered now no extra cost -works for the keyboard folios too, just call Apple and give them your iPad accessory's serial number!)

It's not too old. The 2018 version is still a beast due to the limitations of iPadOS.

That said if you need cellular, this is a decent enough deal. If not, you can find the 128GB wifi model with the M2 for the same price goes on sale. IF you can handle the 12.9, it has miniLED and is a much better display than the 11.
