I have z fold 4 since aug 2022. Amazing phone but it ridiculously doesn't hold its value! I see z fold 3 for 200 300 everywhere! So why asking 1800 for a phone that depreciates faster than speed of light?
Because there were multiple opportunity to get Z Fold 3 for $4-600 2 years back? So 2-300 after 2 years does not seem like bad deal to me.

Got a black line of death on the inner screen after ~20 months on my F3. Samsung charged >500 to replace. Thankfully my Chase Ink covered all but 100 of it. I have heard better things about F4 and F5 durability. Still... my F3 has a new screen now... dammit SD.

Pretty annoying that fold 3 and 4 have the same trade in value, especially since 4 to 5 is not a massive upgrade. Maybe they want us to keep our phones for longer.

Hopefully fold 6 is slimmer like the new honor folds.

For those trading in the fold 3, do any of you have small micro creases down the vertical.
I was previously trading my phone in every year with Samsung, but on the Fold 4 I just didn't see the point thinking I'd wait another year. Halfway through year 2, the inner screen protector began bubbling up, which I had replaced. Then a few months later, i started noticing small micro creases in the middle. The size, appearance, and location of these creases are such that it's obvious they are not a result of something like dropping or impact to the phone. It's pretty obvious these are a result of normal use or wear from the continuous action of opening and closing the phone continuously. Since then the micro creases have slowly been getting worse.
After the Fold 2, and not having noticed issues with my Fold 3 in the first year, I had thought the big durability issues were a thing of the past. Had I known they were not, I would have reconsidered upgrading with the Fold 4, despite the changes being so iterative, or perhaps back to the main s22 lineup. By the time the Fold 5 came around, I couldn't trade in because I was worried about being rejected.
However, since then I've seen some posts saying they were able to get full trade-in value, and it seems unfair that I would be denied tradein value based on a durability issue resulting from doing the very thing it was designed and advertised to do and nothing else, Fold. I could probably make a strong argument that this is normal wear and tear, but the exact tradein requirements says no damage beyond normal wear, or cracks.
Any thoughts? Should I risk a tradein? Has everyone else with a Fold 3 since launch not had issues? I would say I've probably unfolded the device on the upper side of the average number of times, but I'm not rough with my device, have always had them cased, and have never dropped it.
My Fold 3 issues were only the screen protector bubbling in the middle and I replaced it myself. It does seem to make a slight creaking noise from the hinge now. Afraid display may crack one day. So, contemplating on upgrading to Fold 5 now since we get $1k trade in value right now...

I bought a Z fold 4 512gb back in August for $1200. I use it all the time for notes while working on transformers. I love this thing.

The only issue is the damn UBPro beetle case i use has a built in front screen protector that adds artifacts to what would be an otherwise beautiful screen. Mind u the case is $80 and that protector is not replaceable. I guess I have to cut it out and buy another from screen protector (not the folding screen). And the tripod thing on the case is getting weaker . It won't last an entire year.

I dropped mine about 5x in 4 months, but I have an $80 rugged UB beetle pro case. I actually thought the folding screen protector was replaceable for free at Samsung. How many years is that screen protector replaceable for free?

800 trade in for my note 20. But 450 trade in if I get s23. Wonder if I should wait for black Friday. $800 trade in for my 3 year old phone is pretty good.

I have the fold 3, it's awesome for what I use it for, mainly surf net and watching videos. Screen size is nice. 2 things. Battery life isn't good compare to most phones, but it gets me thru the day at least. 2nd which was an easy fix. The screen protector started to peel alittle. Did some research and was told to remove it asap before it messes up the lcd screen. I went on ebay, bought myself a screen for a few bucks and it's like factory new again. Still going strong till today.

Preordered the Fold 4, had 0 issues, love it. Will be buying a 5 if the price drops a bit more... cause I just don't need to upgrade honestly, works perfectly still.
