Both the 980 Pro and the 990 Pro had the firmware bug that incorrectly read the drive health. That firmware was fixed on the 980 Pro about a year ago and the 990 Pro was fixed a couple months later. It's highly unlikely that any drives with the old firmware are still around at Amazon or Best Buy, but it's best to install Samsung Magician and update the firmware regardless. With any firmware later than the bugged one, neither drive has any issues.
