Rtings is the Bible up until the point you can see a monitor in person.

All of their measurements use scientific equipment to give an unbiased rating, letting the numbers speak for themselves.

Of course there is individual monitor variance, and to be fair, your eyes might just disagree in the end.

Anyone that claims Rtings reviews mean nothing is probably just some brand elitist/snob/shill, or they think the $600 TV looks the same to them as the $1800 one (and they would be right, it does to them).

All this to say that as a starting point in research, it would be foolish to disregard rtings.

This or the Viewfinity s9 for photo editing/gaming, I already have a 165hz monitor for games but this would be much cooler to game on but wanna know its photo editing capabilities.

I had been looking at OLED offerings from AW and LG but I've been reading of folks who didn't want to spend $1K+ and deal with potential burn in and dim screens. And they all recommended the G8 over OLED, at this time. They said it got brighter and did HDR mostly the same.

I check RTings and it seemed to support the brightness claims but then Reddit goes back to crapping on RTings and saying their reviews mean nothing lol

For those who use multiple PC's and PC + Mac, Samsung monitors don't do auto input switch. It's a pain and I have 5 Samsung monitors to say it's true for every monitor they have.

My experience with Rtings has been nothing but spot on.

This is not true for this monitor, it may be true for the ones you bought, but that doesn't apply here.

Click the link and read the description:

"Auto Source Switch+
Power on for instant play. With Auto Source Switch+, your monitor detects when connected devices are turned on and instantly switches to the new source signal. This helps you get to your game action faster without flipping through multiple input sources."

I have this model and it does in fact auto switch, thought it does trigger sometimes when I don't want it to, like when one of the PCs has a screen saver turn on. That's probably on me and my machines though, not the monitor.

This is pretty good monitor in general but acts pretty quirky, like showing weird horizontal lines for a second once every couple of days. This may be an issue with my PC or GPU to be honest though.

In general it's a solid device for productivity and work, I'd be interested in picking up a second at this price but I don't think I personally qualify for the EPP program. I will say, I'm not in love with the viewing angles compared to cheaper Dell monitors I've had.

I'd say this deal is pretty slick, as I paid 600+ 36 for shipping in December and thought it was worth the value.

This. I have a G8 and G9. Both are awesome, but don't auto switch predictably like my 10 year old Dell did.

I have two very old Dell IPS monitors that "work". Maybe 80% productivity 20% games of all type. Currently using Dell U2412M which is a 24" IPS. Is it worth upgrading or a money pit? The dell im using now is 60 FPS 1080 with no local dimming but looks fine.

Looks at this in Best Buy today while debating if I wanted this to be my replacement for a decade old 28" Samsung U28D590 UHD display. After messing around with it for a bit I was underwhelmed. At 240hz the colors were bright and vibrant but the scan lines were very apparent. Switching to 120hz removed the scan lines but also washed out the colors. Switching the display to RPG seemed to bring back some of the color and contrast but I couldn't get it to look as good as the 240hz image. Props to the anti-reflective coating though. Even in the bright lights of best buy this was one of few monitors that's made me work to notice any kind of reflection. Unfortunately that coating also made the display look grainy when following moving objects on the screen. I fired up YouTube and ran some of the LG OLED 4k/8k demo videos. Those looked quite good but there was some obvious backlight stepping as the backgrounds faded in and out. Overall I ended up deciding this wasn't going to be my next display,

I have this monitor and I could not be more happy! Compared to the new MSI OLED, it "slaps".

I have one, I use it with my PS5 and my PC I was not impresed with the PS5 performance but it is not bad, now I used on my PC and the performance then was great. OLED quality equivalent.

personally, i'd stay away from any samsung display tech that is supposed to be high end....

it will fail in two years or less.... my brother and I bought their first Quantum Dot monitors they launched (i think they were first to the consumer market) and that monitor is the reason all of their monitors now only have a one year warranty

mine had two repairs, my brother had 1 repair

i got my money back though after taking the matter to small claims as the screen failed a third time and they refused to service it and claimed it only had a one year warranty which was easily proven false... those monitors released with 3 year warranties to match the competition.. they had so many defective units that their solution was to just shorten the warranties on future sales.....

"just to note" my brothers "repaired monitor" has speckled artifacts that still show up on the screen so it was never truly fixed

honestly it would probably be safer just looking at dell offerings, the samsung monitor will probably be a money pit especially considering "hdr 2000" at 550

if they are discounting it that much and its samsung there is probably a high failure rate

dad bought the monitor i pointed out to him for my mom's new mini-pc i bought for her xmas present last year --- honestly for an ips monitor it matches QD VA panels, was impressed and didn't cost an arm and a leg (granted it was during black friday time)
