I bought this monitor in February '24 for $400 and have been happy with it. For productivity, I don't care for the local dimming, but it's great for media/games. Otherwise, been very happy with it. I run it at 240hz off a 7900 XTX and haven't had any scan lines or flickering issues. Every other screen in our house is an OLED / QD-OLED and I'm still happy with the picture quality on this monitor.

Id get the G85SB OLED for $550 instead. The curve on the G8 is too sharp

Amazing monitor when it works. I paid full price for this when it launched, but the flickering is insane when it starts happening.

Wow is that a common issue with this model?

It scored a 5/10 for flicker: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...g8-s32bg85

Generally, IPS monitors have the least flicker if that bothers you.

Gotcha thanks. Yeah I tend to notice flickering so maybe VA panels are out for me in general.

Vrr Flicker, banding, poor full screen brightness and poor viewing angles are the main issues

Also have it, and also like it but yeah hard to recommend these days at this price (I paid about 350$ after cashback a year or so ago). Sure the picture quality is great for media and games. But OLED looks better. For productivity I prefer my old ips 4k monitor though so this is only makes sense as some compromise (OLED doesn't do well with productivity, text looks strange) if you game and work on the same monitor maybe it makes sense.

People are still recommending the Neo G7 over this because of the scan lines and VRR flickering. Good local dimming for movie watchers though

OLED or bust if you are spending 500+ imo

Flickering, unfortunately, is common on a lot of displays. I had a S90D as a monitor and its game mode on The First Ascendant flickered so bad that I got eye pain in seconds.

Love this monitor since I have none of the issues discussed here, but I'm using this monitor for my 14.1" MBP and PS5 @ 120 Hz.

How is this monitor with consoles? Does it have the black bars on the sides when you play?

I bought this for 400 last deal. Beautiful monitor, wish I waited for OLED.
Heavy monitor so you will need to purchase a heavy duty post if u don't want to use the awful stand.
Playing games on this is outrageous. Cyberpunk and red dead 2 are the games I'm playing and it's very very nice
I do not like the curve when using it for word docs emails etc. it just looks odd to me
