Sounds like you need to replace your outlet. The contacts inside the outlet will become lose over time if plugs get bumped while plugged in or if you aren't inserting/unplugging plugs straight.
I have about 30 of these around the house for various devices. They work great and are very reliable. Also they can tie into Home Assistant for automations. Recommended.
While some devices will at least remember their previous state (before they lost power due to these switching off), most electronic devices I've come across will default to the "off" state when their power gets restored, making these pointless if your goal is to turn things on. Usually works fine for completely analog devices, but those are getting pretty rare nowadays outside of basic lamps.

Is Amazon phasing out their own brand of smart plugs? All the smart plugs in my house are Amazon but I need a few of these for some heavier duty appliances. Is Kasa now the "official" smart plug for Amazon? I see Amazon is bundling their Echos with this plug.

I use one of these for a soda gun chiller/freezer
Commercial unit makes a racket when on so it's only on during the night which lasts the whole day
Only downside is the kasa plugs even with energy monitoring don't tell you an hourly amount of energy being used. It just says how much used over the day and right now.
Changed to an emporia smart plug. That one graphs it to the minute (or even seconds) so I can see how many times it actually revs up over the night and only have it on that amount of time during the night.
Kasa energy monitoring can be tracked via home assistant if you are looking for more detailed information, will show up to date graphs, with fridges compressor cycles along with defrost cycles are apparent.

Yeah, the 3-prong plugs definitely grip a lot better. I'm using these smart plugs to switch 12V AC adapters for LED lighting, which is basically the worst case scenario because they're all 2-prong and heavy.

I didn't understand what you were trying to explain until I watched your video too. I see that could be a problem for heavy adapters.

We use a dozen of these around the house and they've worked flawlessly. Super responsive, and no failures. I know everyone's experience is different, but that's mine FWIW.

Apple HomeKit?

I have 1 WeMo in my house and it works well with Apple. I'm looking for cheaper alternatives. Otherwise I will stick with WeMo
These don't look to be compatible with Apple Homekit. I have both homekit plugs and non-homekit Kasa outlets. The Apple ones are . . . . ok . . . they frequently lose connection to home kit whenever the internet cuts out for a hot sec. It's very annoying.

You might be surprised. For work, I need to remotely turn on/off a bunch of electronics and all of it can be set to default power on. Computers, monitors, etc.

But you're right, not everything can be turned on remotely. And some of the things that can might be tricky to set up (e.g. modify BIOS in a computer to power on automatically).
I have my laptop setup as you mentioned. Script shuts it off at 10 PM, plug turns off at 11 PM then when I tell "Alexa" "Good Morning" one of the things it does is turns on the plug and the laptop BIOS is set to turn on when power comes back on.

I remember getting the energy monitoring ones for like $1 or $2.50 from order with Alexa deal
They are not stable with my Asus router and frequently drop off the network for some reason
My router is older AC5300 ,I had the 66u_b1 before this and they would drop on that router too
I also have 6 in wall switches from them one is a dimmer they work better than the plugs but a couple times they all dropped off the network at once and would not go back and I had to reset them all in the Kasa app
This was over a year ago but the switches have been working good since then
I have 2 of the smart plugs and they are flaky and one of them will not update to the latest FW no matter what I do, both are the same model one is I latest FW and the other one won't update
One seems to be more stable than the other and I think the one with the New FW is more stable but I am really not sure which is which now so I can't say but I have up trying todo the update months ago

I have a few brands and this one is good. I run a lot of LED strings and use a powered USB hub off one Smart Plug - so can run five or more strings off it.

Does anybody use these for hot water re circulation pump? Can I turn it on demand for a short time and schedule it to turn off within few minutes?
"Hey google turn on the hot water for 3 minutes"

Works fantastic and also lets me ask 'Is the hot water on?'
