Still grossly overpriced and can't be used on anything but Xbox

$89-$90 is my target for this and I would buy it.

Sony used to be the one who used proprietary storage. They learned their lesson and Microsoft clearly has not.

Yeah, it's overpriced for what it is.
Yeah, it sucks.
Yeah, I bought one because this is the lowest I've seen the 1TB and more storage is an absolute necessity for getting the most out of Game Pass Ultimate on a Xbox S.

this is why the S doesnt sell and is a terrible idea. Now you spent more than just buying the X in the first place. or almost as much.
Bro... The Series S sells way more than the Series X. From a leaked document from the FTC it is something like 75% of Xbox consoles sold are Series S.

It does when you your son is practically ADD with games, playing one for a couple of days then wanting another one. Plus my games I want to try.

It takes too much effort to keep flipping games in amd out of USB storage.

This is overpriced. This is what the 2tb price should be. You can find 2TB m.2 SSDs that are fast enough for the PS5 for like 100 dollars. Maybe even less, if you look hard enough.

If I bought this to put in my Series S I'd still only be out $275 before tax. My X I have $500 before tax in it, that's a large difference

Any suggestions for an external drive?
I have the Xbox Series X and use a WD 5TB Game Drive. You can play legacy titles straight from the drive, and you can move X/S titles there to free up internal storage without having to redownload – you'll just have to move them back to internal storage when you want to play them. I use my PS5 far more often, so my Xbox Series X is really just a Game Pass machine, but this works well for me.

To really take advantage of the Series X's horsepower you need a HDMI 2.1 TV (120Hz, VRR, HDR etc), and many buyers don't even know what that means.

And even then the newer games seem to be 60 fps. lol.

I might jump at $99, this is really a convenience/luxury since I have the 1TB X.

Unless you're traveling a lot, it's almost worth just getting Series X at 1 tb and a regular 2TB nvme for $60-80 (plus a case to USB 3.1) as extra storage.

Though I can understand coming in getting a series S at like $200-250 for 512gb and just needing a bump in space.

I had some target circle points/ % off offer and got Target to price match it.

If you have any % off circle offers on your account you can get it cheaper.

Came with a free month of game pass ultimate.

Any hard drive solution hooked up USB would be to slow of a solution unfortunately. It would require you to always transfer from external/internal vs this which is a ssd solution that AAA games can run off of.
I see.

Thanks for the response. Upon looking further, it seems to be some kind of slightly modified CFExpress interface. Looks like there are some adapters, but NVMe drives that size are very, very rare.

no this isnt true and if it is its only because the x was sold out.

even from the very beginning x sold out it's preorder and S never did. When I pointed this out I was told "well it's because only the hardcore preorder". LMAO 3 years later X still outsells S everywhere. On Amazon X is currently around #25 videogame bestsellers while S is #250, 4th among Xbox consoles. Behind Series X, Series X renewed (lmao) and Series X Diablo 4 bundle. Granted Amazon ranking can be screwy and influenced by any recent stock issues, but this is overall consistent.

S only sells when MS cuts the prices to the bone (249 or even 199 holiday sales), costing themselves a mint in the process. Because nobody wants it. Even then 499 PS5 EASILY sells much more, proving even at half the price S is not desired. Sorry, Phil done goofed.

Last holiday with some of the cheapest cut to the bone Series S consoles ever recorded, Series S at 249 or even 199, Xbox sold terribly in November and December, one of it's worst holidays i can remember. Only an estimated 700,000 sales in November that would normally be 1.2 million plus, while PS5 was selling gangbusters. Series S really was and is a disaster. MS staked it all on cheap S last holiday and it utterly flopped.
Wow, PlayStation troll to the max. The Xbox S is good for only one thing, it's Cheap. We obviously all know Xbox x is better. If you are a Verizon customer, at one point you could pick up an S for $150. That's only $25 more for an entire system for a near current gen system. I have a PS5, xbox x&s. Not sure how your bank account is looking but everything costs more. This is the ONLY all in one near current gen inexpensive gaming solution on the market today.

Phil done goofed? Should we look into Jim Ryan? Isn't he leaving Sony soon to, "retire". I hardly use my PS5 because unless I'm playing an exclusive game it's just more expensive to be in that ecosystem.

Why is this M$ thing such a ripoff?

I won't pay a cent more than $90.
