About this Item:
- Serve up chewable, crunchable, craveable nugget ice that's ready fast and retains its flavor, unlike traditional hard cubes. Refreshing nugget ice is made from compacted ice flakes and is perfect for cocktails, sodas and other beverages
- 34 POUNDS OF ICE PER DAY - Begin enjoying your first batch of ice in 10 minutes. Never run out of nugget ice thanks to a large capacity ice maker that makes one pound of fresh ice per hour and holds up to 3Lbs at a time
- Skip the scrubbing thanks to an advanced cleaning system that helps sanitize (preventing mold and mildew growth) and descale (cutting down on scale and mineral build-up) when used regularly, keeping ice tasting fresh and machine performance at its best.

Edit: I should add, I ONLY used distilled water with the machine. It makes no difference in whether they fail; likewise a replacement machine failed to run out of the box. They are ticking time bombs. If you get one that works for a while consider yourself lucky.

That said, mine has been working 24/7 now since July. It's a bit noisy when running so I moved mine to the pantry but otherwise I'm happy with it. The chewable ice is fantastic.

Thank you for the tip. I am a costco member, they are carry both, the GE and the Frigidaire brands. Will look to go the costco route.
This [chefaaa.com] is similar to the machine I have - 6 years not a single issue
Worth every penny and you dont even need to spend this much you can get a smaller unit for around $800-1300 and it's still considered commercial and will be serviced as such with warranty.

You are the reason Sams and Costco will cut all the extra benefits of the return policy eventually. Costco is doing gangbusters even if they eliminated the return policy completely customers would still shop there and they know this. Dont understand why people keep testing the limits of return.
You bought something for $200-300, a pittance, and used it for a year. You got what you paid for.
As for anyone else looking for an ice machine this is what you do:
1. Go to a upscale appliance store not Home Depot/Lowes
2. Ask to see their commerical ice machines
3. There are at least 5-7 commercial models in the $500-800 range
4. Buy one of those models and the extended warranty
5. Now enjoy hassle free 100x better quality ice then this trash machine
Best part is that you dont have to abuse Costco's return police screwing everyone else
Tempting price but the reliability reports are concerning.
I use RO or bottled water and still going strong after like 5 years, tho I dont use it a whole lot to be fair
Typical chronic returner of items to Costco.
Costco's policy 7-8 years ago was ANY ITEM including laptops and big ticket electronics could be returned no questions asked.
Why did that policy change?
Why did Costco drastically reduce the time frame of return from unlimited to 90 days?
Why did they refuse to take returns on certain categories of items when in the past it was not an issue?
Why does a company who, according to you, built their company on people returning / renting items continue to remove more and more items from unlimited returns.
Just because something is pricey doesnt mean you have the "right" to return it. Man some people are so entitled it oozes out of their pores right on Costco's floor - here i thought that was the mango smoothie.
If you are unhappy with the performance of Costco's model visit a commercial appliance store.
If buying an ice machine for thousands is too much for your budget, continue to buy bagged ice or buy a fridge that has a solid ice maker built in (you will find these on SubZero which defeats the purpose anyways)
Finally, I have no anger towards these people i just feel bad it's embarrassing all around and eventually as I mentioned earlier it will affect all members, then you will be no where to be found because you contributed to the problem.
If you have $500 for an ice machine you shouldnt be chronically returning and rebuying it - anyone with common sense would buy another at that price range or step up.
do you buy grills from Costco grill all summer and then just return it without even cleaning off the hamburger grease?
