By the way USB 3.1 Gen 1 = USB 3.0. I know this is not a fast drive compared to others, but wasn't a concern for me.

It should be yes. The USB itself is like blank sheet of paper. You can write whatever you want but that doesn't mean it can be read by everyone. So, if your car audio system can read mp3 files then if you couple mp3 files to USb and plug it in then you should able access the mp3 files
