Synology WRX560 - $175.99

I have recently moved to Synology routers and will not go back. I was going to buy one of these used from ebay as a 4th endpoint but this was a better deal than what I could find on there.

While this might be "expensive" for a router, Synology's SRM makes it a no-brainer for me. Dong wrote an outstanding review for this router and is linked below. I love the fact that this can be used as a stand alone router or part of a mesh. In fact, it is backwards compatiable so that virtually every Synology router can be used with this in a mesh network!

I paid list for this a few months ago because Synology is one of the better consumer brands and they very rarely go on sale. The only others I would consider are asus and ubiquity. It still has quirks but configuring a nightly reboot helps with those.

Good deal! I went from Linksys Velop mesh to Synology less than a year ago. Synology is so much better on all fronts (other than cost). SRM is indeed unmatched at least at the consumer level.

Anyone know if this has parental features like blocking categories and/or shutting down ports/MAC based on time of day?

Yes. You can also limit how much time each device is connected on a daily quota basis.

As OP mentioned, the SRM (essentially the OS for the router) is really powerful and flexible. It may take a bit of learning but there are plenty of helpful youtube videos to watch at 1.5x speed.

Oh man, ubiquity is some amazing stuff, I'll likely never use anything other. It is a bit much for most people as far as initial setup goes. I have had my setup for going on 5yrs now and have NEVER had to reboot the equipment. Used to have to reboot the previous network all the time and even it was a higher end one. Anyway, this posted deal looks like very easy setup.

Never rebooted in 5 years? Has there been no updates for it, or have you just been not installing them??

TY for the information. Just wanted to know so I can keep this router in mind when my current router (and it's backup) dies. I'm using an ASUS with Merlin's firmware and it does what I need at the moment.

Ugh. How did I miss this? I guess I was so focused on the rt6600ax not going on sale for Prime days that I completely ignored this.

Too bad for me. Frown

Solid device and especially so at the sale price.

But there are higher performing and cheaper alternatives (like the TP Link Deco) if using more than one unit at a time (like a mesh system).

I understand the SRM software is fairly nice, but so is Ubiquiti's.

On the hardware front, I would say a tri-band AP/router with dedicated 6ghz backhaul is a better value.
