What is this for?

It seems to be a high-speed wireless bridge if your WIFI modem is in a different room than your router.

Not sure why this would be worthwhile ... you could get a 2-pack of eero Pro 6E with THREE dedicated simultaneous bands (and two ethernet ports but only one is 2.5G) that would perform this function much better
