It gives me everything I want: most of the power, build quality, stability and screen size that I enjoy with my work MBP M1 Pro and adds insane battery life in a light package.
It's a great computer for anyone with the use case/money and understands what it means to "buy once, cry once".
Anyway, the average consumer is probably more interested in thin-and-light and battery life than they are compute power.

I am considering those options and can't make up my mind.

It's much slimmer and lighter, however MBP has noticeably better screen.
If you can't decide then buy both and return one you don't like.

It shows "Temporarily OOS" but allows you place an order.

I used to do asset management for a very large company and this would be where I would interject and ask a Project Manager "what is your engineer really trying to do here????"
It'd be like folks who would request base model MBAs instead of a fully spec'd Latitude that's imaged "just because".
That said, personally I don't know if I would spend the $200 more for the 1TB over the 512MB ($1400) version- I would spend $100 on a Samsung 2TB T7 and save that other $100.
Great price, but last year that also would have been when they were clearing them out as M2 13" air was out.

Otherwise, for $200 less ($1399) you can get a similarly configured 14" MBP w/1TB SSD [a.co]and performance will be better than the MBA15 (SSD is faster in the MBP14) and the screen is much better (ProMotion high refresh rate and higher brightness), audio is better, and more ports.
The 14" MBP is only 0.2 lbs heavier than the MBA15 so weight is not that big a deal.
EDIT: The $1399 MBP14 is "renewed" but in reality is an Apple Certified which everyone knows is just like new.
